From the same developers that dumped a cashgrab version of Galaxy on Fire 2 HD on Windows and outright refused to release the expansion addons that were on every other platform, including Mac OS. They then got booted out of their own studio by their new owners and decided to form a new studio from which to beg those same PC gamers for money.
Fuck these asshats and fuck any game they make.

Well then, given that it's Kickstarter, it probably is. Wake me up when it's finished.

I read on their Kickstarter campaign that Chris Roberts posted something on the RSI forum and many backers of Star Citizen came over.
They also will keep on going with fundraising through PayPal, this is really wrong.
Edit: To make that more clear:
Okay this project runs a Kickstarter campaign and a Paypal fundraiser as well.
But the Paypal fundraiser should stop as well when the KS campaign ends.
“Space pilots will be able to explore the first four sectors in one of three spaceships available in the full version. They can equip and upgrade their spaceship in many different ways: Over 20 devices and consumables can be used; 32 perks can be unlocked and used for upgrades. With dozens of available primary and secondary weapons, players dive into battle in the colorful space shooter and go toe to toe with a good dozen different enemies, who are waiting with a wide variety of attack and retreat tactics.”
“After a bit more than a year of intensive development, we are happy to be able to make the alpha version of EVERSPACE available on April 29th to our supporters with the appropriate reward level. Once again we would like to thank everyone who has supported us during the Kickstarter campaign and after, not just financially, but also with their feedback and social media activities. Very special thanks go out to Chris Roberts, who sent a friendly armada of Star Citizens our way, giving us massive support at the end of the campaign. Last but not least, we would also like to thank the team from ID@Xbox, whose support will allow EVERSPACE to celebrate its console debut on Xbox One.”
Everspace – Space Shooter Powered By Unreal Engine 4 – Looks Lovely Even In Its Early Access State
Quote:
Naturally, we did have some minor gripes with EVERSPACE’s tech. A lot of asteroids are indestructible, something that breaks the whole gaming immersion. Moreover, we kind of hoped for ‘beefier’ explosions and even more particle effects.
The good news is that in its current state, the game runs extremely well on the PC platform. As you can see, we were getting 30-45fps in 4K on Max settings. So here is hoping that ROCKFISH Games will further improve – the already amazing – visuals as there is definitely a lot of potential here.
But what is EVERSPACE? Is this a game challenging Star Citizen? Nope. Instead, EVERSPACE is a space shooter that features small space levels that are connected via space jumps. In its current state, players can upgrade their ships, scavenge for items, and battle a number of enemies.
EVERSPACE’s control scheme works great, and its combat mechanics feel quite good. It’s just that we’d like it to be a bit flashier in order to get an “wow” from those space battles.
ISOdemo of the alpha has been released online, no DRM, upload is available on RIN/IGG.
Pardon my ignorance on the matter, but if there's no DRM on that particular release, then why are there SmartSteamemu.dll's and whatnot in the directory? Isn't that sort of a bypass?
Regardless, looking forward to trying this!

Thanks for the heads up! Imma grab it out of curiosity (with negative expectations xD)
edit:
Just played the alpha for one hour or so, it confirmed what I imagined. It's a visually attractive game, runs without hiccups (here at least), plays very well with mouse controls...but it's also definitely shallow and there's little depth overall since the formula is as simplistic as you can get.
No interactions whatsoever (except for the sparse drones/turrets that you hunt down, and the pew mining sessions), the sectors are small and barren, extreme rinse and repeat roguelike formula with no incentives, and no signs of a story either. I shall pass
