I love World of Warcrft. Don't get me wrong, Blizzard is a great team of developers, responsible for one of the only games to date that I consider worth $50 + $15 a month. But there was one place where Blizzard fucked up, and that's their update process. Instead of giving it's subscribers access to fast HTTP/FTP servers to download the numerous patches their client requires, we are assumed by Blizzard to not mind using the "Blizzard Downloader", which has to be the shittiest piece of software ever created by mankind. This piece of shit of a Bittorrent client has repeatedly proven itself incapable to download at speeds exceeding 4kb/s on my line.
Not that I mind going over to FileFront.com once every few days and picking up the file at speeds of 750kb/s+, but Blizzard should know better than to make me do so, especially given that the average user is much more likely to go to fileplanet.com and stand in it's long lines to do so.
My suggestion to Blizzard: scrap your downloader. I'm sure that you can afford a contract with FilePlanet, where I can log into FP with my WoW username and pass and download the patch from Fileplanet's premium service. I'm sure you can make your game open my default web browser and send me to the login page. I'm sure that, in the worst case you can host the file on your web site at 200kb/s. Blizzard, this is fucking annoying, especially to the PC noobs out there.
Ok, I'm done.

um, dude... wtf?
As whoknows said, I was referring to a legal client of a legal game.
legal = retail = dumbass users that deserve removal from the gene pool.
If you look at it that way, making the average user wait ~3 hours for a download that should take 2 minutes or less, is ridiculous.
Once again, I don't even fucking bother with the updater, but once again, noobs do. So, once again, I believe that such a shitty approach on Blizzard's behalf is stupid, because out of the 2 million or so WoW users, you're pissing off 1.75 million or so every time you release a patch. That's a pretty shitty way to treat your customers...
