New York, NY – April 20, 2005 – 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), today announced Serious Sam II, the much-anticipated return of Sam “Serious” Stone to PC and the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft.
“Gamers have been anxiously anticipating a full sequel ever since Serious Sam: The Second Encounter was released back in 2002,” said Christoph Hartmann, Senior Vice President of Publishing for 2K Games. “The frantic action and lighthearted humor of Serious Sam really struck a chord with gamers worldwide, and with a brand new engine and greatly expanded gameplay, we think fans will agree that the return of Sam has been well worth the wait.”
“Our second generation Serious Engine allows us to create characters with over 100 times more detail than the last game,” added Roman Ribaric, CEO of Croteam Ltd, developers of Serious Sam II. “This has allowed us to create huge, lush environments and even crazier enemies than before, without having to scale back the gameplay in any way. Gamers can rest assured that with the capabilities of our new engine, we’re not only going to match the record we set with the first Serious Sam for the most enemies on screen at one time, we’re going to surpass it.”
Serious Sam II will be released for PC and Xbox in fall 2005, and will be showcased at 2K Games’ booth at this year’s E3 Expo. Look for the first details on the game in the June issue of Computer Games Magazine, featuring Serious Sam II as the cover story, on newsstands in early May.

Thie like the 3rd game no ???
Cause there are two already not counting the gold editions, guess Serious Sam 2 kinda confused me with Serious Sam: Second Encounter !
Must be great, both previous games were and still are great, i still have to see games with maps that big and so many enemies at once, running in an old Savage 8MB perfectly without slowdown !

and the first 2 sam games were classics !!

LOL, Sam is better than DOOM... SS is one of the best shoot & run game I ever played...

He wasn't saying SS wasn't inspired by DOOM, he was just saying he thinks SS is better.
I have to agree of course. Shooting evil demons in dark corridors gets hella-old after a short period of time. I liked the old SS games, especially the CO-OP mode. You could play through the entire game w/ a buddy, more games need CO-OP IMHO.
Anyway, I saw the hi-res movie and it looks like the same old engine, except w/ some bump-mapping and ragdoll physics. Well, the levels are obviously a lot bigger, hopefully you can traverse the entire thing w/o loading.
dyn IP addys, subnet & mac spoofs, email routing, and if all else fails, wi-fi. banned? lol, its more like brb. =p

I thought serious sam was an adventure game.
So I was really happy when I saw this thread, and now you people have ruined it for me. Thanks a bunch.
I think that adventure game was Sam and Max or something.
I'm Big in the Scene, Or Da Scenez0rs like us scene people call it.

SS is so fun in co-op we play it alot at LAN and, the comments are always something like "hey that was my Minigun" "wait guys where did you find the cannon come on tell me please" "save some enemies for me also"
and the list goes on, the gameplay is so simple and just the amunt of monsters on screen at the same time is insane!
Looking forward to this one.
