Hey guys,
shameless plug here. Joined the Gamejam Ludum Dare and the goal was to create a game from scratch without using any pre-existing assets within 48/72hrs with the theme "The more you have, the worse it is".
As I was already "working" on a game ("For Glory") with a similar concept, but went nowhere with it for the last 1.5 years, I just decided to start from scratch. And with scratch I mean absolutel from scratch. All shaders, graphics, sound/music, game logic is completely new
Why two entries you might ask? Because the compo only allows for 48hrs of development and I didn't have enough time on the weekend to work on this full-time and finish my vision. So I re-entered in the Jam category with additional 6 hours to create a menu, a menu soundtrack, ingame sounds, completely re-write the enemy AI and spawn system, implement the multiplicator, refine the flying mechanics, remove bugs and more.
Nice work, the production quality is easily on par with most indy offerings out there, I thought I'd register an account and support your cause given the amount of time and content you've posted over the years.
Sorry! At this time, only participants are able to rate games.
Looking at your comments:
- I think the background graphics look great no distractions / wants there.
- Explosions i'd consider lower priority, better is better but not a big deal just having falling / smoke trails.
- The other stuff yep fairly essential.
So obvious criticisms, you would rectify with more time:
- ability to continue shooting while offscreen, wasn't working for me.
- content, you would have more given more time so mute point, enemies, pickups usual things.
- the boost key probably wasn't best choice as that control + any arrow = OSX changes desktops.
Didn't try this on the mac, also maybe it wasn't a good idea to turn up the particles to eleven developing on a xeon with a GTX970.. I guess the game will run pretty crap on integrated graphics
Regarding the feedback: Yep! Didn't even think of it. Honestly, I would've preferred to make this just an infinite scroller but time is a real constraint here
But thanks guys, really appreciate people playing this ^_^
Regarding the Soundtrack: This was my first time actually trying to do something with FL... Jeez, I suck at this
At this point in time I guess people spent more time playing this than I did. Surely is visible in the "quality" of the game and the feedback Yeah, the AI ain't smart!
Works pretty good and I like it, sound FX takes me back to Atari Defender. You'd have something here if you could dedicate more time on it. I missed controller support but it wasn't too hard with Keyboard.
