The next Assassin’s Creed game is reportedly well into development, and it’ll be taking the series to Greece for the first time.

According to a new report, ancient Greece is going to be the setting of the next Assassin’s Creed game, due for release in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Why Greece? Well, the report indicates that last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins was initially planned to also include Greece, but Ubisoft later decided to give it its own game.

The information comes by way of Liam Robertson, who is mostly known for his work on Unseen64 uncovering cancelled and lost games. Writing for Comicbook.com, Robertson cites multiple sources “linked to Ubisoft.”

Assassin’s Creed 2019 is said to have been in full production since early 2017, and is shooting for a fall 2019 release. We don’t yet know what it’s going to be called, or even its internal codename (Origins’ codename was Empire).

The time period is also unclear, though Greece’s several historical periods (Bronze, Homeric, Byzantine) could all make for compelling backdrops.

The scope of the game will likely mean it won’t be releasing on Nintendo Switch, according to the report, though that’s not to say other Assassin’s Creed games aren’t in the works for Switch.

Robertson has a good track record when it comes these sorts of reveals, and he mentioned that the person responsible for some of the information about the next game, had correctly leaked Assassin’s Creed Origins’ details to him ahead of time. That said, it’s worth taking the details with a pinch of salt.

Naked burly men liking other naked burly men?
("Everything is permitted." - Oh well in that case get that fucking Helot!)

Senusal pottery design for the texture artists and they can pull the glitch thing with the gods again, just be careful if they turn into animal forms. Razz

And poor renditions of the Persian empire and their half-beast/half-demon/half-ninja (lots of halves here.) immortals and king Darius taking an arrow to the knee.

Granted the immortals were already well presented in AC Origins in a few murals the player could observe and while Ubisoft embellishes things a bit for gameplay and in-game lore reasons they do make a lot of actual historical fact checking and research too. Smile

Although overall accuracy has varied from game to game.
(GTA Chariot with Julius for example.)

EDIT: Actually there's already a assassins for Darius so that might be featured but there's a lot of periods they could set the game in. Smile

I would like one set in Eastern Roman Empire Greece. It would be weird if they actually did Ancient Greece given that the Assassins are basically from Caesar's time.

Greece is perfect. Athens is a wonderful setting. An instanced story mission to Meteora wouldn't hurt also.

But in all honesty, something I could indeed see happening would be a the WW1 Russian assassin Nikolai Orelov, just barely any emphasis on ballistic weaponry

http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Nikolai_Orelov

My biggest fear is that it would be too similar to Syndicate though.... but if it's as well made as Origins, who knows, it might work out Mr. Green

Well as long as it doesn't go too far to the current modern-day events that are covered in the other media such as the comics it can't get too silly. Maybe.

Yeah I think it could be interesting setting for an Assassin's Creed game.

aaand another leak-ish?
Quote:
Takes place during rise of Flavian Dynasty in Achaea, Macedonia, Thrace, and the Aegean Sea, but not Asia Minor (most of modern Greece)

Rhodes will be in game, but Crete will be a DLC similar to THO

Templars are families that control cities and the three provinces as Roman Clients and administer propaganda for the new Emperor

Can choose to play as male or female protagonist from Sparta

Major differences in main story, targets, skills, and customization based on character chosen

Character story arcs do intersect and choice does not affect MD outcome

Larger emphasis on MD

Bayek/ Aya not in game but play an important role in the story

Screenshot is an early build of Athens

Several cities play larger roles in the story, making the player return unlike in Origins

Largest cities are Sparta, Athens, Corinth, Delphi, Thessalonica, Philippi

About same map size of Origins with water

Like Assassin’s Creed Origins with more naval focus, about 30% naval

Social Stealth will return

More customization options

Coming out first/second quarter 2019 like Far Cry 5 for emphasis on Splinter Cell Holiday 2018

Next game will take place in Rome. Possibly Japan after that.

Judea under Herod was discussed but not pursued as a full game due to likely political/ cultural backlash but Judea and the Sicarii will be a DLC similar to CotP

Ancient Greece seems perfect for this game. Lots of islands to sail to, and iconic places and cities to visit.
I'm quietly still hoping for some remake of AC2, or at least a return in some form to the Italy during the Renaissance. But ancient Rome also sounds great.

Rome during Augustus' time would be an instant buy for me.

Though unsure if Augustus / Markus Antonius were in Origins.

Hold your horses there, Meteora are known for the orthodox christian monasteries, they were built in the 14th century Very Happy

As early as the 11th century, monks occupied the caverns of Meteora. However, monasteries were not built until the 14th century, when the monks sought somewhere to hide in the face of an increasing number of Turkish attacks on Greece.

Yeah, as the soviet forces were fighting through Berlin and only a few hundred meters away from the bunker, some assassin gets in there and kills him, Eva Braun and the fucking dog Laughing Laughing Laughing

A better idea is to make an alternate history where Hitler, some top Nazis and their families and entourage escaped in V3 rockets to a moon base they had been secretly working on since 1940. Now you must infiltrate the moon base and destroy it. Of course not an Assassin Creed game, but a Sniper Elite game. I guess you can snipe nazis on the moon craters, I don't know.

Hitler was assassination per the canon in the games, body double. Smile

Tries to run, runs into assassin, gets shanked the shit out of him.

The lore is a bit weird after Assasin's Creed 2 and later fleshed out the stabbing competition between templar and assassin throughout history.

Altair straight up bombed Ghenghis Khan and his Mongol horde ("GODLIKE!") and yeah it's kinda weird. Razz

EDIT: There we go, one Assassin's Creed Hitler as ordered. Razz
http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Adolf_Hitler

EDIT: Fuck ton of templar.

Bush • Vladimir Putin

A setting during Nazi occupied Europe would make the game a shooter. I think, Ubisoft doesn't want Assassin's Creed to be a shooter.
