Quote: | The next Assassin’s Creed game is reportedly well into development, and it’ll be taking the series to Greece for the first time.
According to a new report, ancient Greece is going to be the setting of the next Assassin’s Creed game, due for release in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Why Greece? Well, the report indicates that last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins was initially planned to also include Greece, but Ubisoft later decided to give it its own game.
The information comes by way of Liam Robertson, who is mostly known for his work on Unseen64 uncovering cancelled and lost games. Writing for Comicbook.com, Robertson cites multiple sources “linked to Ubisoft.”
Assassin’s Creed 2019 is said to have been in full production since early 2017, and is shooting for a fall 2019 release. We don’t yet know what it’s going to be called, or even its internal codename (Origins’ codename was Empire).
The time period is also unclear, though Greece’s several historical periods (Bronze, Homeric, Byzantine) could all make for compelling backdrops.
The scope of the game will likely mean it won’t be releasing on Nintendo Switch, according to the report, though that’s not to say other Assassin’s Creed games aren’t in the works for Switch.
Robertson has a good track record when it comes these sorts of reveals, and he mentioned that the person responsible for some of the information about the next game, had correctly leaked Assassin’s Creed Origins’ details to him ahead of time. That said, it’s worth taking the details with a pinch of salt. |

I would like one set in Eastern Roman Empire Greece. It would be weird if they actually did Ancient Greece given that the Assassins are basically from Caesar's time.

Greece is perfect. Athens is a wonderful setting. An instanced story mission to Meteora wouldn't hurt also.

aaand another leak-ish?
Quote: | Takes place during rise of Flavian Dynasty in Achaea, Macedonia, Thrace, and the Aegean Sea, but not Asia Minor (most of modern Greece)
Rhodes will be in game, but Crete will be a DLC similar to THO
Templars are families that control cities and the three provinces as Roman Clients and administer propaganda for the new Emperor
Can choose to play as male or female protagonist from Sparta
Major differences in main story, targets, skills, and customization based on character chosen
Character story arcs do intersect and choice does not affect MD outcome
Larger emphasis on MD
Bayek/ Aya not in game but play an important role in the story
Screenshot is an early build of Athens
Several cities play larger roles in the story, making the player return unlike in Origins
Largest cities are Sparta, Athens, Corinth, Delphi, Thessalonica, Philippi
About same map size of Origins with water
Like Assassin’s Creed Origins with more naval focus, about 30% naval
Social Stealth will return
More customization options
Coming out first/second quarter 2019 like Far Cry 5 for emphasis on Splinter Cell Holiday 2018
Next game will take place in Rome. Possibly Japan after that.
Judea under Herod was discussed but not pursued as a full game due to likely political/ cultural backlash but Judea and the Sicarii will be a DLC similar to CotP |

An actual alpha that really does look like an alpha. Been a while since we have seen one of those.

Ancient Greece seems perfect for this game. Lots of islands to sail to, and iconic places and cities to visit.
I'm quietly still hoping for some remake of AC2, or at least a return in some form to the Italy during the Renaissance. But ancient Rome also sounds great.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Rome during Augustus' time would be an instant buy for me.
Though unsure if Augustus / Markus Antonius were in Origins.

The whole "trio" of ancient Egypt/Greece/Rome was in talk since 2011 but was put on hold cause of technology back then.

A setting during Nazi occupied Europe would make the game a shooter. I think, Ubisoft doesn't want Assassin's Creed to be a shooter.
