well iirc some original devs of system shock are in the studio so its kinda plausible that it will be tehm to ressurect another of their franchises

What will be interesting (if this is true), is how they acquired the legal rights to make SS3.
I was always under the impression that the rights to the SS franchise were in deep legal limbo.

I believe Nightdive Studios holds rights to the franchise and are remaking System Shock 1. It's possible they struck a deal with them.

Underworld Ascendant looks like shit and isn't anywhere near complete...how are they going to handle two games at once? But at least the developers will probably stay true to the previous SS games instead of Bioshock-ifying it.

I think it was way too early revealing Underworld, they are only going to get bad press showing what they have now. Dev's should have learnt by now public expect finished looking material even if you pitch it as alpha, EA.
Seems a bad move to take on another project this early into development of first game, honestly i'd say 80%+ kick-starters are not completed, delayed and released in piss poor state.

Fuck yes. Better not be a low budget shit title expected to sale based on the name alone. Someone should pump serious cash into the veins of games like this. Do it right, or not at all.

I believe Otherside has a fair concentration of ex-TLG devs so is probably best placed to take it on.
I'm cautiously optimistic, my optimism may increase if Underworld turns out well. |

When I saw they were making a new Syndicate game, I was really happy. That turned out to be an FPS that died within weeks after launch, so yeah... that the "source"/"legacy" of the title has a cult following doesn't matter because the new game has to stand on its own feet at the end of the day. Look at how they're raping the Rainbow Six name, too.
A big budget definitely doesn't ensure a good game on its own, but it certainly doesn't hurt chances for success.
All gamers are selfproclaimed experts now. Making waves in gaming like the old games did is way tougher. That said, I'm glad to see 'something' happen with this.

Last month Night Dive said they have active conversations to make SS3 but they are looking for a publisher to fund it because it will cost a lot more than the remasters they make. Unless a publisher is announced I think what Otherside is teasing is not a certainty that it will be made, just something to hype people and possibly attract a publisher.

Bioshock... 
Yeahh SS is one of the top kings in this genre, son.. Bioshock and its ilk are like arcade shooters in comparison HOWEVER I did enjoy all of them. SOMA is getting closer to what SS was all about.
