|
 |
hy there..
i want to stream movies from my pc (windows to the TV via DLNA and i have some problems i did run into.
Normaly when im in the explorer and go to the movie file i right klick them and select "playTo" and the TV is listed..
But it doesnt work with mkv files, its just no "playto" button anymore..
i read that there where license issues or something thats why windows doesnt have it..
so my question would be, are there any workarounds for tis?
i was reading that renaming it to .avi would help but it doesnt work..
i also used and tested a lot of dlna server softwares but they had other problems, like not seeing more then 1 harddrive etc..
anyway, if someone knows if theres a trick to use so windows can playto with mkv files, i would love to hear it
Thanks..
edit:
we also tried this here:
Quote: | Otherwise, if you want to manually do it:
Get a copy of ACMWrapperDMO.dll and DivXMFSource.dll version 1.0.0.76 (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions).
Register the DLLs (regsvr32).
Add the Play To handler for .mkv files in the registry.
AddMKVPlayToHandler.reg:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mkv\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\PlayTo]
@="{7AD84985-87B4-4a16-BE58-8B72A5B390F7}"
|
but also didnt work, it showed up now for mkv files but didnt play them, some error or crashing the mediahandler?? AVI works fine by the way...
the source of this idea was herE:

Get Mezzmo, saves a whole lot of problems. Something not supported: transcoding on the fly.
Tried quite some programs, that one was the best in the end.

I use plex (https://plex.tv/) which I love (along with the family). It will transcode on the fly and stream to several tv's in the house at once (we ditched cable a few years ago). For the "dumb" tv's I have a roku or xbox.

any good apps for dlna streaming on a fire tv stick?
i hate kodi with passion since i have to use it on my fire sticks, bloated, too much options and a pain in the ass to set it up. sometimes it works, then it doesn't. no idea why everyone loves it.
so is there anything better for a fire tv stick? in the past i used the build in tv player for streaming videos in my network, but i don't got the tv connected to the internet anymore, just the fire stick, so it would be great to find a good alternative for kodi. plex is not an option, since i don't want a server running.

i don't leave my pc on 24/7 and i don't want to start the pc just to watch a movie, especially when i lie in bed already. my harddisk with movies is plugged in into my router directly, like this i can access the files with dlna.
like i said this works perfectly fine with the build in media player from my TV's but on the fire tv stick i have to use kodi, since i can't find anything better and since kodis sucks so hard, i haven't used it in a long time and rather watch something else.
somehow the wlan module on my tv failed, so i can't connect it to my network, just with the fire tv stick i got a connection.
so it would be really great if someknow knew an easy to use and good player with dlna support for fire tv stick.

For those who utilise their PC as a server, try Jellyfin ( https://jellyfin.org/ ).
mkv stream easily to family on their mobile, tablet or TV.
