You are the last known human in the universe, and all that's left of you is a disembodied head. Seeking clues to your fractured past, you must travel through a hostile world of machines using a special helmet that allows you to dock into and take control of any robotic host body. As you launch from one body to the next, you'll start to discover that things are not quite what they appear to be, and the fate of humanity has yet to be decided...
Fresh from Double Fine Productions, Headlander is a a retro-futuristic, side-scrolling, action-adventure game set in a world inspired by 70’s science fiction. It is a world of automation, a utopia gone wrong in which all of humanity have transferred their minds into robotic imposter bodies and are ruled by a deranged computer. Brought to you by Double Fine Productions (Psychonauts, Broken Age) and Adult Swim Games (Duck Game, Jazzpunk), Headlander is guaranteed to be the ultimate head trip.

Funny how this game goes unnoticed.
Very fun action platformer ala Metroidvania with unique art and design. Definitely worth testing.
I tried the ISO demo and then grabbed it on steam.
Tim Schafer lost a lot of his reputation after borderlining on scam with Broken Age, Spacebase DF-9 and Massive Chalice which all underdelivered (in random order). So you must understand the reservation
But this one wasn't thankfully oversawn by Tim. My excuse is lack of time, the ISO demo is in the backlog folder waiting for its time.

Yes most threads on steam forums are to complain about DoubleFine and the titles they previously published.
This one is developped by Double Fine and pyblised by Adult Swim though.
I agree with Mateo, don't let the Double Fine tag scare you (maybe just a little), just grab the free demo from the buccaneerish seas and enjoy the ride.
I'm one hour in, it's a surprisingly fun game and a rather polished experience in its metroidvania-ish/pew pew-y simplicity. Something in the middle between Shadow Complex and Rochard, with intentionally vintage sci-fi art style, pleasant visuals, awkward humour and the ability to..use your head as a flying bot seeking for new bodies to possess and holes to explore in a non-sexual way.
