No Man's Sky (August 9th 2016)

http://www.no-mans-sky.com/

Description:

No Man's Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy.

Features:

* A TRULY OPEN UNIVERSE
Whether a distant mountain or a planet hanging low on the horizon, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.
Where you’ll go and how fast you’ll make your way through this universe is up to you. It’s yours for the taking.

* EXPLORATION IS SEEING THINGS NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE
Explore uncharted solar systems and catalogue unique new forms of life. Every planet’s landscape is different from the next, and populated by species never before encountered.
Find ancient artefacts that could reveal the secrets behind the universe.
Choose whether to share your discoveries with other players. They’re exploring the same vast universe in parallel; perhaps you’ll make your mark on their worlds as well as your own.

* SURVIVE ON A DANGEROUS FRONTIER
Every solar system, planet, ocean and cave is filled with danger, and you are vulnerable.
Your ship and suit are fragile, and every encounter can test your skills to the limit. From dogfighting in space to firstperson combat on a planet’s surface, you will face foes ready to overwhelm you.
And one mistake could see you lose everything. In No Man’s Sky, every victory and every defeat has lasting consequences.

* BUILD FOR AN EPIC JOURNEY
Whether you want to explore and see things never before discovered, or directly set course for the centre of the galaxy, how you play No Man’s Sky is up to you.
But you cannot take your voyage lightly. You’ll need to prepare.
Collect precious resources on the surfaces of planets and trade them for the ships, suits and equipment that will take you to your destiny in the stars.

According to some french site, PS4 version is really disappointing is very much scaled down.

Blurry textures, poor resolution, poor framerate...

Is this game still using that stupid one mega server idea with 90389485934850934853 planets with all the players but you'll never actually ever run into anyone else ever anyways? So online only for no reason?

All these "epic space battles" are all AI?

Struggling to feel the hype personally. Then again I have no interest in playing Minecraft.

I just can't, at the moment, see how it'll be that enjoyable.

I hope I'm wrong.

I havn't really followed specifics on this game but, what's the point of visiting a "dangerous" planet? Can't you just fly around wherever and visit one of 03984298423842304892049824 planets? Why land on something that's going to kill you?

Land
Dangerous
GTFO

What am I missing?

My interest was mildly brought back up when I learned I could play "offline". Fuck everyone else. It's MY universe.

yeah good luck finding anyone in MP anyways, even the developer says it will be next to impossible, so that has never been a problem (im also not a fan of MP).

what the point is of visiting a dangerous planet? Will you even know beforehand how dangerous a planet is or a certain area of a planet? i think not.

But that's what I mean, can't you just land, start to die, hop back in your ship and leave?

Like really hot or cold planets, or poisonous or whatever?

Also with the MP, they already covered that sometimes it gets really stupid, like in their tests one guy landed and everything was named after some derivative of "penis". Not what I want to experience.

Shocked

I wonder if he got paid to stop posting the videos? He could have seen it as an investment and took a punt on spending £1000. Sean Murray sure was worried everyone would see what the game was (borefest) and not actually spoiling for people as he said.

But if the guy can willingly spend that amount of money on a game so close to release i guess money is of no object anyway.

The guy that bought it has finished it in 30 hours. Apparently visited 100 planets, reached the centre of the universe and admitted rushing through it. He also mentioned bugs but wasn't playing with a day one patch that Hello Games have planned.
