Release: 3 May, 2016
Genre: Interactive Drama Adventure

Quote:
When a young man dies suddenly, his friends and family are left to pick up the pieces. What were his last thoughts, what were the moments in which he changed their lives, and how will their lives be without him?

Fragments of Him is an interactive narrative experience told from a second person perspective. The story revolves around a tragic accident, and the life of the victim and his loved ones before and after the incident. The player plays through the events and the locations as if they were the spirit or intellect of the characters, making decisions and starting actions that progress the story. Follow the story of Will as you see how he influenced the lives of his grandmother Mary, his ex-girlfriend Sarah, and his boyfriend Harry. Through this snapshot of their lives we see that when a young man suddenly dies, left behind there will always be Fragments of Him.

Fragments of Him follows the aftermath of Will’s sudden death, and how the lives of those close to him are affected by this loss. In the story-driven experience, with a play-time of approximately 2.5 hours, players walk alongside Will in the final moments of his life as well as through the memories of people who loved him. The game features stories from the lives of Will’s boyfriend Harry, who returns to an empty apartment filled with reminders of Will; Sarah, his ex-girlfriend who later became a good friend to the couple; and Mary, his grandmother feeling alone and betrayed by a society she barely recognises. The player moves through the world in the first-person, but directs the story from outside of the protagonists, creating a unique ‘second-person’ feel to the experience.

“We have been on an amazing journey since we started development at a game jam more than three years ago, and it is wonderful that players will soon be able to experience our story”, said Elwin Verploegen, co-founder of Sassybot. “We are regularly overwhelmed by how our audience is moved by the game, and how they appreciate a title combining emotional honesty on a difficult topic with such an uplifting ending.”

so that's why harry hasn't been posting for a few days. Cool Face

kidding aside, not big on overly emotional stuff like this but you never know. a 2.5 hour experience might be worth yarring. for some reason i've been enjoying walking simulators a lot lately. nice change from fast paced games and long term commitment RPG's I mostly play.

What's with all these incredibly short games coming out lately? 2.5 hours is nothing, it's an insult to actually ask money for this, well £14.00 is certainly an insult. Bastards.

Studies of steam statistics probably show that most "gamers" don't even play a game that long before they move on tot he next so why even try?

Well, they are either:

1.Easily pleased
2.Goldfish
3.Or have infinite cash to spend

For £15.00, I would expect a good few hours out of a game, I don't want to finish a game in one setting. I want it to last.

This seems more like an interactive movie to me i think 2-5h of playtime is fine for this type of media i don't really see them as games tbh.
That said i wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole sounds pretty bad from the reviews so far.

But 15 bucks barely get you a decent dinner (without drinks) and that only lasts 2 and a half hours as well. Get some perspective!

And you can get 100+ hour games for less than 15.

This is not a game, though, so guess you can't compare it to games.

Look at Minecraft for example, not that I play it, but my son does. And he has put hundreds of hours into it. I think I paid £17.00 for it. So, well worth it in my opinion.

The argument about the dinner is not a valid comparison, I might pay £1500 for a holiday abroad only to get nothing but a tan, but I get the shared experience of it, the fun I (hopefully) had, the memories in other words, so that in my opinion is worth it, as is a really nice meal at a restaurant, as it is usually a shared experience.

However, this game is a solo experience. Therefore to pay £15.00 for a game that lasts 2.5 hours is just crazy in my opinion, anyway, I digress as it's not as if I am going to buy it or even play it. I am just extremely surprised people seem satisfied to pay even £5.00 for a game that lasts 2.5 hours and presumably from looking at the reviews is not exactly re-playable.

You put way to much weight on the length of games. I personally would think that the art, and story, and gameplay in a game would make it worth the price tag, and there are many games that are 50+ hours that would not be worth pennies to me.

I think i played trough Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in about 3 hours as well and i consider it a great game and a fantastic experience worth every penny i payed for it.
It's absolutely possible to make a great and compelling game with a short play time that is worth this much (which isn't much more then you pay for a movie ticket these days).
This game isn't worth that much not cause it's short but because it's a shit game.
