Divinity Original Sin III (of just Divinity 3) perhaps? I haven't played a single game by Larian studios.

the logo doesnt really fit the original sin style .... currently the running guessess are sequel to the original Divinity series , probably in 3rd person like Ego Dragonis .... or BG3

Dont give a shit, they gonna stamp their "le tactics game".
Larian only made 2 worthwhile games - DD and Dragon Knight. And nowadays they are incapable of pulling any of the sequel to either of them so who cares about their mass-produced tactics shit?

All kidding aside, both a Divinity III powered by a proper engine or a surprise BGIII would be very welcome news to me. DOS is great too but..it's time to break the monotony a bit

I was so disappointed they didn't go the DD route instead of the more generic type of RPG.. DD was very atmospheric, it was almost like getting a new Ultima.

I always compare these games to BG/2 and none of them were close, both DOS games had good combat (imo) but strange uninteresting story with cartoon graphics and mostly shit NPCs. I really hope they dont fuck this up.

That's very true, they'll have to alter their usual lighthearted tone and step up their writing game in some way. Adding some talented veterans could help. I'm cautiously optimistic, at the end of the day they're one of the best options among the available ones (CD, Obsidian and Warhorse are all quality, but busy with their own stuff). Larian are also familiar with isometric goodies and they know how to create some satisfying tactical combat, *it's something*
One of the other options would have been Beamdog, we dodged a nonbinary bullet right there  |

As excited as I am for this, the writing in DOS/DOS2 doesn't exactly inspire confidence that Larian can pull a proper BG story off.

They are and I'm glad for the people that care, an actually new entry in a series that left such an impact on the genre and industry overall is a pretty big deal. However, it does nothing for me and it's yet more time that they're not making a sequel to The Dragon Knight Saga.  |
Yeah, couldn't get into D:OS
Besides, wouldn't you guys prefer a baldur's gate 3 by the chads from Beamdog instead?

So what not even Bioware itself can write like old Bioware anymore and there is no one else who could, writing in DOS2 was fine so i'm not too worried.

I do think they have the talent to pull it off, but I'm also worried, because games they make are vastly different than BG - tone, atmosphere, story, gameplay mechanics, even presentation. I don't want an Original Sin clone dressed up as Baldur's Gate. The writing in both D:OS games was quite subpar too, bo be perfectly honest. We'll see. Either way, I'm happy my favourite franchise makes a come back and in a way that gives at least some hope for a decent title.
