I live in the UK, I got 9 points on my licence for speeding.
One more fine and I'm banned.
First fine, 36 in a 30. Fair enough lesson learned.
Second fine 70 in a temp 50 during road improvement on motorway. Don't seem to remember speed restriction on the M18 so this seems unfair.
Third fine. 35 on a honey trap 200 metres of a dual carriage way with a break neck 30 speed sign at it's end. What the fu@k. Seems like there's been a lot of complaints about this one sign to the council.
Ok so now I'm good and I drive like a legal citizen everywhre and the following happens.
1, massively piss everyone off for maintaining strict speed regulation
2, get well peeved, and slowly realize how 70% of the driving population are anti-social selfish arse holes who drive way over the limit, habitually, all the time.
3, really wish there was a proper system for maintaining proper driving regulations, without relying on the Russian roulette approach to speeding we have in the UK.
While I was flying down the road yesterday (only 15 mph over the speed limit), I noticed a policeman with a radar gun sitting at the side of the road. Naturally, he pulled me over, walked up to the car and asked me, "What's the hurry?"
I replied, "I'm late for work."
"Oh yeah?" said the cop. "What do you do?"
"I'm a rectum stretcher," I responded.
The cop said, "What? A rectum stretcher? What does a rectum stretcher DO?"
I said, "Well, I start with one finger, then I work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then my whole hand. Then I work until I can get both hands in there, and then I slowly stretch it until it's about 6 foot wide."
The cop asked me, "What the heck do you do with a 6 foot rectum?"
I replied, "You give him a radar gun and park him at the side of the road..."

Ah yeah w00t to not so strick driving rules in the USA. Yes it equals more accidents but it also means faster travel if you go the right way. I drive 20mph over the speed limit every day on the highway and i zoom by cops and no one turns around because everyone else is doing 30mph over the speed limit. Just slow down when you see cops parked ahead and your all good.
Well I got 3 points 2 years back it was my own fault to be honest.....theres a boy racer hangout near merry hill, anyway I was going home after picking up a burger for myself and brother when some girls were egging me on to do a wheelie so instead i shook my head and blew them a kiss and decided that I'd do a nice fly by past them
turns out there were cops stationed at the top of the hill with radar guns i didnt see them till too late I tried to brake but it wasnt enough I got a nasty letter confirming they had caught me doing 57 in a 30 ended up with £60 fine and three points.
Heh ive been flashed by a gatso too but it flashed from upfront so didnt catch my plate! just some guy on a black bike with black helmet/visor and black jacket they couldnt see my face!....ive been contemplating going past a few cameras with my finger up on numourous occasions with my plate off of course

we go very easy on speeders, all cops have cars and insurance too and we all HATE the insurance companies so we will reduce and agree to a lower fine to help you out...
On topic, I got a speeding ticket last month ... 84 kph in a 60. $115 CAN fine + 3 demerit points. I went to court and pled guilty to 75 in a 60, which was only $52.50 and no demerit points.
You know something can't be all that bad when even law enforcement does it too! Shouldn't it only be illegal to do something when it adversly affects society? I hate to say it ... but movie studios/microsoft sony/game publishers aren't going broke. Big deal that you can download it for free.

I think the point here is to keep it from spreading.
My stand on the legality of warez is quite simple - I believe that downloading for end-users for personal use should be symbolically illegal (i.e. technically illegal, but not often pursued, so that the idiots of the world are kept away by the laws, but nobody's in real danger.) Of course, selling the service of warez should be prosecuted vehemently. Distributing with no profit to self (other than access to better/faster warez) should be at about the same level as downloading currently is, discounting p2p which should be at the symbolic level. Making warez (i.e. groups) should be somewhere in between selling it and distroing for free. In summary,
Selling warez or access for cash [mandatory castration]
Making warez [Lawsuit/fine]
Distroing warez [remote risk of lawsuit/fine]
Downloading warez/p2p [No real risk]
I HOPE they go after the smallest of users... create a law where each infraction warrants a 300 dollar ticket... then just track using ISP and send tickets out...
kill the piracy at the lowest level and the highest ones will lose demand... however, cut the head and 3 will grow...
Coming back from London last night along M25, the car on the opposite side of the motorway got flashed, too bad considering it was a nice Merc CLK I doubt he'll/she'll have much trouble paying the fine but the points won't feel good if they tally up and the car needs to be re-insured

I guess my main beef is that I only drive a shitty Focus, and I've been clobbered 3 times and just been extremely unlucky. If I was constantly going 10 or 20 over the limit then fair enough, 6 of my points are based on only being a couple of miles an hour over. Hardly fair.
UK should have a system that penalises everyone, or no system at all. I say introduce GPS devices to cars to monitor speed, and fine automaticaly, or get rid of the present mess we have a the moment.
A motoring report a few days ago on the BBC said 70% of UK drivers break the limit every day! That dosn't include those that were being econimical with the truth, or simply wouldn't admit to it.
The difference with sharing files and speeding, is that cars kill people. trading dosn't. Honestly everyone thinks there a sport driver, when the reality is if you put 70% of them on a test track they would loose control and luck ridiculous.
Trading and sharing is a good thing. It satisfies my natural desire to horde and preserve, while making me media rich, leading to enlightenment and peace. Hardly criminal activity.
The media companies only sell what people wish too buy. If I don't wish to pay for some software music or games then they've failed to win my loyalty and interest. Dosn't seem too difficult to work out for me.
