Just to slightly defend the game; I think it's still very EA (~1 year from launch?) So, hopefully they introduce more flavor (based on the comments -> I haven't bought this, and I've seen only a bit of Quill18's let's try).
Rimworld was also shit at the initial release I played it maybe 2 hours in the initial release, and now I have ~550 or so hours in it.

It's still missing any meaningful end/long game. Sure you can build forever, but for what?
Also I'd like to have some more options with my "scavengers/explorers/whatever they are", like increasing skills, items?, dunno, bosses? Now it's all generic and for no good reason
hile working alongside our players, it became obvious that we are onto something truly special, but we should spend more time going deeper into gameplay mechanics that meet our community’s expectations. On top of that, development has been affected with everyone working from home during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, no one has taken ill thus far, and we’d very much like to keep it that way. Because of this, we made the difficult decision to push back the official launch of Surviving the Aftermath 1.0 to early 2021. The team at Paradox has been a pleasure to work with and they will continue to give us their full support making Surviving the Aftermath the best survival management game possible.
But there is good news! We are excited to share that Surviving the Aftermath will be available on Steam Early Access on October 22, 2020. We promised a Steam release in late 2020, so we are sticking to our word. Expanding Early Access support to Steam allows even more players to get involved during this phase of development where there’s still time for us to act on your feedback. We’ll also have more details on the PlayStation 4 launch as we get closer to release.
Update 10: Uncharted Lands is now live! This update brings improvements to the new early game experience, a revamped Energy production and distribution system, graphical improvements and much more!
So far so good! These guys are on a roll getting updates in.
I've to say, I am liking what I am seeing. Remember, I bought this game when it was released into EA on the EGS and it was very bare bone, but they keep the updates coming and it looks like a "Game to look out for", once it comes out of EA. Just launched it and it also looks a loot "smoother" around the edges, graphics wise.
I'm holding back on playing, tho. I want to have the full experience
I feel like they made this game much harder than it was before. My colony is barely surviving. Meteor strikes, acid rain, and fricken bandits been attacking my stuff. I've lost several specialists.

Did you enforce face masks and the 1 metre rule? It really does make a difference, plus it deters Meteor strikes.
1.0 out. Of course they released ultimate edition upgrade
To be honest, I got it because I really did enjoy the game and how every expansion made big changes/additions throughout the development. Looking forward to future DLC for it.
Been really enjoying this. The ups and downs of my colony, it's piss easy to unlock all research nodes if you invest in research camps out in the world map early. I got way more than I need, like really too much. In later stages, catastrophes are nothing but a minor inconveniece and there is nothing to do other than grow your colony more and more. It really did pull me in tho, made a few nights pass real quick.
I'm enjoying this a lot too. Metal is a b*tch but after you build some scout towers, you get a lot of pockets of resources. The only issue I have, and it seems most people too judging by the amount of complaints, is the malnutrition "bug".
Some say if you build houses near their working places this can be solved but it didn't work for me. End up with a huge stock of food (mixed) and still get people that can't eat. Like they on a hunger strike or something heh.
I could be very wrong but I think the colonists are the source of the bug. Sometimes they just won't eat I guess. I lost almost all of them somewhere in the beginning due to malnourishment but I just trucked on, the new NPC's (survivors at the door, newborns) didn't have the bug and the growth continued. As for resources once you get the auto collectors it's not a worry anymore. Only wood can become scarce but you can trade for it if trees are too far or too few. There is also a mixed recipe you can get (meaning you don't have to produce both meaty and veggie meals separately)
To solve malnutrition, I always create mixed veggies, mixed meat, and mixed veggies+meat meals from the kitchens. Makes you wonder if some colonists only eat meat or only eat veggies. Doing it this way, I've never had issues with malnutrition.
I have 2 kitchens and 1 mess hall so far. 1 kitchen makes meat, the other veggies and the mess hall makes the mixed recipe. So far so good, no malnourishment problems.
