well, they did not really emphasise oculus rift as a requirement or any platforms.
it would be silly not to do a non-rift version.
maybe with trackir support.

also, consumer version is hd res.
It won't be HD per eye but at least it'll be better than it is now.
While I'm a huge fan of VR and would absolutely own a headset again if I had the money, this is going to be a repeat of the VR craze of the 90's. It'll be hyped by everyone, a bunch of units will sell, and then the hype will die off and it will be a niche market.
B.b.b.but Carmack's on board!!one..... he was in the 90s too. And a lot of the game companies were too. The only three games that stuck in my head were Descent, Quake, and Eurofighter (forget which version. 2000?).
Still, I hope I'm wrong and this becomes a mainstream item but I imagine this time next year, the rift will be along the same lines as 3D gaming. It's cool but not widely used.
Oh it will be, Nothing that Mr Roberts has made has been particularly bad, and he has immense vision - and nothing to hold him back.
This game is purely an add on to ensure that the new resurgence of space sims is cashed in on - there will be no depth, very basic combat and probably no real point.
At least thats my prediction.
Limit Theory does, however, look quite interesting, and should make a nice diversion from SC.
That's KS funded too...
