NEXT GENERATION AG RACING IS HERE!
Redout is a tribute to the old racing monsters such as F-Zero, WipeOut, Rollcage, and POD. It is designed to be an uncompromising, fast, tough and satisfying driving experience, soaked in that vertigo that stands at the core of the arcade racing genre. The driving model is based on physics. There's no racing on rails: each input will apply a physical force to the ship. This means players can feel every turn and every twist of the track. A sharp low-polygon style blends meshes and terrains with the latest state-of-the-art shading and lighting effects provided by the Unreal Engine 4, creating beautiful and instantly recognisable aesthetics. From dirty suburban environments, to eerie frozen landscapes, to vast desert plains, players are immersed in the melancholic, dystopian atmosphere of a semi abandoned Earth.

Speed
Redout is the fastest game ever made. If you can handle it. It's not about the numbers you see on screen, it's about the sense of speed given by the vibrations, the objects flying buy, the collisions, the effects, the sound, the immersion, everything that we put inside the game is meant to feel you going FAST. Check it out and let us know!
Online Multiplayer
Challenge up to 8 players from all over the world to define the best Redout pilot in history! Do you think you have what it takes? Now you have to prove it, True glory is a flame lighted at the skies.
Immersive VR
We have been working hard to give you the best VR game yet. Get inside your HMD to experience 3D and distances like never before, you'll know exactly where the apex is and feel a new level of control you never experienced before.
Handling
Control is the most important feeling when you are racing at 800km/h. And you have got it here. Redout features belieable physics derived from quad-copters controllers and real magnetic forces. We came up with the next generation in AG handling. There's always a way to take a curve without decelerating, but you have to prepare for it and use everything we put into the game to make it great. Steer, strafe and turbo out of a curve is the basics, get to know all the rest before you reach the advanced tracks.
A Rich Context
2560 DC. Earth stripped of its natural resources. Global warming caused the melting of the northern polar ice cap, and tropical storms ravage all areas that didn’t suffer from desertification.
Pockets of humans are crawling their lives away in a few slums, descendants of those who were left behind or refused to leave. Others created huge conurbations, based upon some of the most populous cities once on Earth. Most of humanity, though, has moved on the Moon, Mars, Titan, and other Jupiter’s moons. Earth is often used as a location for entertainment stuff like hi-speed races, futuristic amusement parks and zoo parks, which allows local communities to work and profit in a harsh environment.
One of the most followed sport is Redout: the fastest race practised by humans driving high speed anti-gravity ships on magnetic tracks.
Played this for a few hours and I like it. Game looks good and it runs well...VR implementation works, but I found I rather play the game without it.
The only gripe I have is the AI. Feels like a rubberband AI and I'm not the only one to think that if you read steam forums.
It's just kinda frustrating, but so it was in all NFS games too and I still played em,so no biggie.
Still waiting for the final release of Formula Fusion to get my "proper" wipeout experience.
I like it a ton more than Formula Fusion, which just feels like a reskinned car game.
This has some verticality of F-Zero with loops and tunnels where you can drive on the walls and roof. Plus aircontrol.
The feature where you need to adjust your tilt when driving on steep slopes is unique and pretty difficult. Some things I dislike about it though is how clean and safe it feels, F-zero was pretty unique and "anime" with its characters, but this is just an indie dev and not Nintendo.
The tracks are also pretty narrow on most maps, but sinec there's some "strafing" thing on your right stick that I havent learned yet it might just be me being a noob.
I would just mention that once you can upgrade the grip level, you'll start winning races fairly consistently, and to use the brakes very softly and use the strafe to move into the sharper corners... it's pretty good actually.

Nah Wipeout is still king of antigrav racers. Redout has nice visuals, but the AI is still a bit bouncy and the control of the ships are still not up there with Wipeout.

Is there no way to disable that atrocious motion blur other than disabling all the postprocessing?
Will devs ever learn
Other than most UE4 games this one has hardly any config files to edit
maybe they are in the .pak file...

The devs seem pretty secretive so far. When asked about settings, options and new (forthcoming) content like split-screen they are only giving vague (although plenty), elusive explanations @steam forums. Luckily they'll expand in-game options like keybindings, advanced graphical options and proper resolutions (EPIC!! )

patch released today with an option to unlock framerate and disable motion blur

i can see why someone would want to disable camera motion blur in fps and such it makes me dizzy as well but in a high speed racer like this i think helps a lot with the sense of speed.
Btw game is absolutely fantastic and far better then any of the other Wipeout clones so far i'm having a blast with it.

if only the difficulty wasn't so hard at first...
I'm not usually like this but: git gud
The game is perfectly balanced if you got the mechanics down (and that requires a gamepad the game was made for twin stick controls) the ai is very good but it doesn't cheat and adapts to your driving skill the game is just ultra fast, likely one of the fastest racers created to date.
My tip is to practice every course in time trial mode before a real race you need to memorize the layout .

What I don't feel fair is to be first on the last lap just to finish 5th because you've scratched one turn lightly
In all seriousness, no worries. I know this game needs practice, more than I'm willing to give nowadays sadly even if I'm playing with a logitech dual action controller. I used to be really gud at wipeout 2097 & wip3out, gold medals a plenty! but now I feel rusty to do counter grips with twin sticks all the time...

The thing is the ai in this game doesn't cheat at all the ai in the wipeout games always did that here it adapts to your playing skill so it doesn't really matter if you got a really good start that just means the ai will try harder and if you mess up it will try to let you catch up a bit.

being first about halfway the last lap and then bam! scratch a nth second one turn, surpassed by the (always same) four ships and ending 5th doesn't make it a good start... even that, it still doesn't justify the weird airbrake (thrusters) mechanic... oh well, time to git gud!
