The game is pretty good, but the worst part is the boss battles. Almost every single one forces you to fight in cramped spaces with little maneuverability. Super Metroid did it better since the bosses were in large rooms.

Download links at the, well, link. Nintendo has yet to issue a cease and desist despite sending DMCA requests that removed the initial release, so we'll see what they will do (nothing, DMCA, DMCA and C&D) this time that the game is out there anyway for longer than a few days only.

Today I learned two things:
1) Nintendo released an official remake titled "Metroid: Samus Returns" for the 3DS a couple of weeks ago (yes, I had no idea). This would (further) justify their reasoning to request AM2R's development to cease. (Also from what I've seen AM2R is by far the superior remake.)
2) While the original creator ceased development, fans managed to painstakingly reverse engineer  the source code: https://gitlab.com/yellowafterlife/AM2Rrc , so development continues by the community
