The video does not show the final gameplay or quality. All the enemies shown in it do not have any AI whatsoever. This is just a working prototype.

It is a survival based horror RPG, which will immerse you in a Siberian, post apocalyptic wasteland. The game takes place in a secret Soviet city, which was partly destroyed. You will get by, side by side, with vicious alien hybrids, ruthless bandits and other survivors like you, who haven’t lost hope. Exploring new areas, scavenging and fighting for your life, you will be making hard choices between greater good and your personal goals, which will lead you to different outcomes.
Our inspiration comes from many sources: games like Fallout 1 and 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl, Metro 2033, Half-Life 2, Resident Evil; films The Thing, Alien(s),Prometheus, The Road, The Myst; our favorite writers Isaac Asimov, Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Stanislaw Lem and many others.
We are making a game which will have virtually an ultimate freedom without labeling you as a bad or a good guy, a game where your actions affect the world, a game without hordes of brainless zombies, but rather with strong and dangerous enemies. The game with tense and grim atmosphere.
Horror really only works in first or, in worst case, third person view (like in Dead Space). Gameplay will never be very intense when you can see around corners, behind you etc. And why are they so against hordes of enemies? That's something that actually could be slightly scary or at least add some intensity.
They can namedrop awesome games and movies all they want, it just comes off as a bit childish or amateurish.. What they really should look at is other indie games like Project Zomboid, a game that actually works pretty well (as an isometric horror game)
It's just me being the usual Negative Nancy it looks great, and the part where it's just darkness and a flashlight is quite atmospheric. Buuuut, i still hope they will look at how they've done Project Zomboid, e.g can't see enemies until they're within a certain range (depends on your stats etc).
Haha actually I agree with you, the survival elements in PZ are nearly perfect. I believe they want to achieve something different here though, another kind of 'survival' at least, based on the hide&ambush system, with faster pace and more action it seems. (but maybe I'm wrong). Oh well, we'll see.

part. Also, they listed Carpenter's "The Thing" as one of the inspirations, which means I automatically like them.

The entire world is embraced by the man-made ice age meant to protect the human race from alien hybrids. The last survivors have formed the Resistance.
On the way to the Resistance, the main character gets stranded in the closed experimental city Duga-40, where he has to survive and repair his transport to continue the journey.
The game’s world is vast (65 different locations) and populated with the human survivors, military groups and pestilent alien hybrids. The world and loot are randomly generated every playthrough.
There is a deep crafting system that allows you not only to cook food and make different weapons, but also to build traps, barricades and shelters.
Accomplishing the main goal, which is to repair the transport and not die by the hybrid’s claws, you will discover the story of the city, meet the survivors and understand what really happened.
Key Features:

Three main characters
Diverse enemies
Large open world
Dynamic weather conditions
Procedurally generated building interiors, loot and enemies

Dead state was fun when it wasn't broken (I couldn't finish the game due to a bug for example) and I haven't played the reanimated edition yet so I might give that a try.
