what is the best
1- civilian flight sim
2- combat flight sim

ms simulator 2004 is so fukin flat - even Flight Unlimited III had decent topography and that was ten years ago

DID's FS2000 was cool, but it is long in the tooth in the graphics department

FS2006 coming up

Best civy flightsim is FS2004 (you HAVE to have addons to appreciate this sim)
Best combat FS has to be IL-2 Sturmovik plus all the addons imo

Well, you can always return to 'ol Falcon 4, which is a very good sim. Or you can wait for the new Falcon 4 to come out soon.

thanks for the posts mates:)

yea IL-2S was nice but i am looking for the modern aircraft and i think with engines like sourch and havok 2 and few other good graphic engins we should expect to good sim soon but the question is when?.. cause looks like the old stuff still sit strong in the memory and it means that no good news...but i realy hope good combat sim will come soon-this style kinda got abendon latly the same as racing combat (if we will put a side GTA and MAFIA that had great chasing with shooting) no good game like the old and good(from my point of view) MEGARACEII but i think this style is hiding good new's with crashday that should contain weapons and Notcom Racing and another good game that will contain rading and shooting gonna be godfather will be like mafia with cars and tommy guns:D
just hope the modern air combat style will do comeback soon.

yeah havok 2 - apache kokum, a modern chopper sim would be freaking nice!

or a modern combat fly sim, falcon was cool but the one we had most fun playing was USAF from EA... damn the choice of airplanes was reallly nice...

maybe a little easy, much more than falcon 4 tho but still you were able to do a night flight with the stealth bomber and destroy sadams radio and tv station with laser bombs... was really cooool

Cool - I reinstalled FS2004. What are the must-have addons?

I must also really suck at IL-2, everytime I try to take off, the plane banks hard right and crashes. WTF?

PMDG 737-800 and Level-D 767-300
Check these sites out:
http://www.precisionmanuals.com/
and
http://leveldsim.com/ <--- this is my favourite currently.

Both of these planes are quality payware addons, and when and if you learn to fly these like "by the book" its much more like a simulator and not a game.

About flying iL-2..it has very good flight model so you really need to understand how to fly and takeoff with a prop plane. RIght speed and flap settings, right trimming and so on...you NEED to compensate witht rudders for the "torgue" effect that pulls the plane to other side when you take off.

Fair Strike was the name of that latest chopper sim, in which you could fly a hand full of modern attack choppers...

There is a newer chopper sim coming out, called "Red Shark 2" or in Russian (Krasnaya Akula 2)... The plot line of that sim is a bit odd and it might have more arcade feel then simulator, but if you like flying KA-50 then might be worth trying it out when it becomes available...

Great potential but it's gonna be a long while until we find out if they keep those promises.

Other than that we can only hope someone cracks Lock-On: Flaming Cliffs soon...
