I read somewhere that you can run xbox live for free through a computer
I have all the right stuff highspeed, nic cards ....ect but can't seem to find the old link to the post to set it up
anyone know where a can find some info on it

Um I don't think that possible since Xbox Live is MS Service, you need to create an account to connect through it. You can have Internet access through your computer but you still need to sign up for Live.
There are other Internet services for the Xbox, They can be found at xbox-scene.com, They are called Tunneling Software.
