Hi, so my contract (2 years) is nearing it's end in month or two and I will be getting new one but without a phone, which I will get separately because those prices on contract are a joke currently...
Last time I got LG g3 which I am VERY happy with. It's the first phone ever I use without any kind of cover or case which is how I want to use any future phone. After all the thing have to be used normally and not praised on altar.
Things I like and don't like about g3:
+It's super slim and small for 5.5 incher
+It charges fast
+It "slippery" so it "slips" nicely into pocket
+The curved back makes it super easy to pick up from the table by pressing on one side
+No buttons on sides are super comfy. No more accidental presses when picking up the phone.
+Love power and volume buttons on the back. Fit right under index finger
+Camera is flat so it can lay on the table without any damage
+No scratches on screen after 2 years
+Back cover looks barely used thanks to it's brushed texture
+I am never using power button since double tap on screen wakes it and it works fast
-Poor battery. 3hours of onscreen time with normal usage
-gets very warm
-sluggish - biggest complain
-1440p is stupid waste of resources
-2gb is not enough. After browsing web or reddit it redraws main screen or apps crash.
-Camera is only ok
-It cracked near microphone on top and bottom like every g3(no big deal)
-Almost no updates
-Screen could use some more saturation
So what the hell do I go with now? I don't want to spend a huge amount of money...
I had note 2 before that and loved the spen for browsing. Could get note4 now maybe? I bet that samsung build quality still sucks and the phone will not look almost brand new after 2 years like g3.
G3 seems not as sleek and more bulky than g3. Also bootloops for everyone.
G5 is expensive and not everyone thinks it is good.
Maybe some Nexus? Stock android will be fast and there will be plenty of updates?
My fiance had nexus 4 and it was very fast but had poor battery life. (Maybe get Nexus 5 or 5x for her ? )
Same question for my gf. Now she has sony m4 aqua which is worst phone ever after nexus4 which she loved but have good battery.

I wouldn't advice no case or protection with the newer phones. These things are made to break these days.
Some of the phones we were looking into:
One+ 3
Huawei honor 7
Xperia
LG G4
No clue if they would peak your interest. First two are the ones I was interested in the most.
It always comes down to personal preferences, so look at the specs and see what's what.

Galaxy S7?
It's better in every aspect then my Galaxy S6 and let's compare it to what you have posted:
+It's super slim and small for 5.5 incher
>> The S6 is slimmer and smaller
+It charges fast
>> The S6 charges faster
+It "slippery" so it "slips" nicely into pocket
>> You have to touch the S6 to understand how easy it slips.
+The curved back makes it super easy to pick up from the table by pressing on one side
>> No curved back, but due to the cam sticking out you can push on one side and pick it up too. Also the aluminum sides make it easy to pick it up anyway
+No buttons on sides are super comfy. No more accidental presses when picking up the phone.
>> This can happen with the S6
+Love power and volume buttons on the back. Fit right under index finger
>> The only thing you have on the back of the S6 is the cam, the flash and the heart rate reader
+Camera is flat so it can lay on the table without any damage
>> The camera is covered by gorilla glass and never got even a single scratch, also the quality of the camera beats the G3 camera by a mile and more
+No scratches on screen after 2 years
>> The S6 had the best screen protection of it's generation
+Back cover looks barely used thanks to it's brushed texture
>> The back is also covered in Gorilla glass
+I am never using power button since double tap on screen wakes it and it works fast
>> No double tap, but single taping the home button wakes it up too and if you have fingerscanner enabled, it also logs you in automatically through your lockscreen
-Poor battery. 3hours of onscreen time with normal usage
>> The S6 battery is mighty fine
-gets very warm
>> Only if you have the screen on full brightness, GPS, recording a 60fps video and charging at the same time, but even then it will charge and the phone never shut down on me. The G3 of my sis in law would shut down on a sunny day when you were trying to take a picture
-sluggish - biggest complain
>> The S6 is always super quick.
-1440p is stupid waste of resources
>> The S6 also has 1440p but Samsung weren't retards like LG, which added post process sharpening on EVERYTHING.
-2gb is not enough. After browsing web or reddit it redraws main screen or apps crash.
>> 3GB ram
-Camera is only ok
>> Camera fucking rocks, so does the camera software, the extended cam plugins and Pro mode is pretty powerful
-It cracked near microphone on top and bottom like every g3(no big deal)
>> Only one crack, on the back side because it fell on ceramic floor, but it's only visible from the right angle (still sad )
-Almost no updates
>> Well... I got my updates much faster than Sony and LG did
-Screen could use some more saturation
>> AMOLED baby, best screen
The reason why I said S7 is, because it should be better in every aspect and the S6 was already great.

I've been looking for a new phone myself and I'm probably getting a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. You should take a look at it, though it has buttons on the sides. Not sure if it's a dealbreaker for you.

After using samsung s7 and an iphone 6s i still consider the iphone superior.
Only thing i liked about the samsung was the higher res screen, that's about it, however 1440p at that screen size is a waste imo, barely any difference.. Maybe a 1080p max. Would recommend the 6s or the 7 coming out on the 13th.
Main PC : I7 12700, MSI Ventus RTX 4090 24gb, Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED
Laptop : I5 4200H @ 3400mhz boost, GTX 850m 2gb Vram DDR3, 4gb RAM DDR3
Derpsole : Playstation 5 disc edition, Ninty Switcherino

That is getting nowhere. All those are stupidly expensive in times when You can get older flagship or newer medicore phone that works the same.
Now android does not require highest specs

Whatever you end up buying, just make sure it doesn't come with an apple logo that adds +300€ to the price tag for no reason.

Doubt the camera is better though. With this new camera thing (I think it's the changes for this model) you can't take proper darker pictures with little light. It looks like a daytime picture. So if you're interested in taking such pictures, this ain't the one for you.

for G3 class = simple:
400-500 eur oneplus or other chineses premium range, 600-700 eur android branded premium range, 800-1000 eur iphone range
Your G3 Snapdragon 801 and 2GB ram is beast still nowadays = want to save money = change battery (eg. 5300 mah mega chinese or 3000 oem), hope it doesnt explode, and get cyanogenmod 13 ftw, and you can live for another few years
more or less getting new phone nowadays if you have decent specs makes sense if either you run out of space or you drop it so its dead

Well since iPhone Jailbreak aint out, Galaxy S7 would be it. Stay away from Note unless you want to burn something. Happily using an iPhone 5C 8.4 Jailbroken.

Just something I have wondered for a while now when it comes to phones... Do you guys even look at their specs or?
I just see so many people going for the same things yet you could get something with better specs for less or the same price. It's almost like most people go: ooh brand X has nr12 coming out I have to buy it.

I think most people are just dummies going from S4 to S5 to S6 to S7 etc.
No logic in it.
Also when the first OnePlus arrived, it cost like 200€ less than equilevant hardware phone from major brands, is that any different these days? They used to be superb value for money atleast.
Here I am with Z3 Compact myself, it had one of the best cameras around when I bought it and the price was pretty good, definitely not Samsung expensive atleast and the size is very good, I don't like 5"+ sizes at all.

the problem with older phones with good specs is that u cant get software updates at some point and for example i cant go over kitkat with my lg g2, because the lolipop version has a memory leak and theres nothing newer. Custom roms with newer androids dont have the features like knock on/off or support of some very good apps (xcam). This applies if u even meant buying older gen phones with good specs

CM is pretty damn good these days, especially for older phones where it has had time to mature. It is really worth if you buy an older phone that lacks software updates but has the hardware for it.
My Z3C on the other hand, can't go CM :l which I fucking hate.
The camera has some DRM shit and photos you take become garbage if you don't have the Sony DRM on the phone, especially if it's in any situation with mediocre lightning at best.

This sounds reasonable after all.
Xiaomi redmi note 4 also seems nice but as konkol84 said. it's a fucking mess online

Fuck, broke my Z3C display again...
I think I will just move on to another phone, suggestions? Right now I'm looking at OnePlus3 and don't see much competition for it at that price range.
Or if there are alternatives out there, they must have properly supported CM for them, I'm not interested in bloatware and want a clean OS on them.
