Enter a fantasy world of ancient technology in Paladins, a team-based shooter with strategy elements and deep character customization. Through a unique collectible card system, players can amplify and augment a character’s core set of abilities to play exactly how they want to play.
Quote:
Fantastic Champions
Paladins is set in a vibrant fantasy world and features a diverse cast of Champions ranging from sharpshooting humans to mech-riding goblins, mystical elves, jetpack-clad dragons, and bomb golems. Each Champion brings a unique set of abilities to the battlefield and new Champions are regularly added to Paladins, keeping the game exciting.
Free-to-Play
Paladins is completely Free-to-Play. Anything that affects gameplay can be unlocked simply by playing, with cosmetic items available for purchase.
Card Mastery
Players collect unique cards for each Champion and build decks that empower their personal play styles. Gamers start with a basic deck of cards and unlock additional cards as they play, opening the door to creative new decks that radically change how Champions play. Players may further tweak their decks in-game with Burn Cards, making themselves stronger or counteracting opponents’ strategies.
Level Up
No matter how players choose to play Paladins, they will gain experience points as they play. As they level up their account, master each Champion, and complete daily quests/achievements players will receive Radiant Chests and Gold which can be used to unlock additional cards, costumes, and weapon skins. The more players play, the more unique their Champions will become.
Accessibility
Paladins is played from a first-person perspective. The controls are simple to grasp for newcomers and shooter veterans alike which makes for an easy pick-up-and-play experience, on either controller or keyboard and mouse.
It's fun, it's free and isn't as much a clone of Overwatch as one might think (from an origin perspective).
Anyway, it is free and it is quite entertaining. I am trying to compile a list of all the champions in the game (obviously, it will take some time to unlock them all through playing, but shouldn't take too long).

Some of the champions don't fit the visual style of the other champions, like they belong in different games or were made by different artists. And the clash seems to be between overwatch-clones and new-heroes (or clones of a different game I haven't seen).
Supposedly this game was talked about long before Overwatch but they got beat to the punch on the release. I played a bit, it's not bad for F2P so I could see myself playing a match or 2 here and there. I would never spend any real money though as that seems mostly for cosmetic items or to unlock the characters sooner.
Game is kind of buggy though as I have already had a few crashes in an hour or so of playtime.

Maybe an issue with a VC distributable or something ?
Just read the thread i linked that launcher pic is obviously just a datamined placeholder,
also why are we even discussing this when pretty much everything blizzard ever made is just a more polished copy of something else?

I think people are discussing this because that's the only interesting part about Paladins.

Did you even try the game?
It's actually pretty fun and plays differently then Overwatch, i play it from time to time when i'm bored with Overwatch and it is a pretty good alternative, it also seems to be a big hit on steam atm.
I really don't see how the similarities are even a big deal and blindly hating the game cause of it is just just childish in my eyes.

None of my posts have been about the gameplay or accusing the game of playing like Overwatch.
I've been discussing the visual identity of the game only. It's very, very obvious that their character designs are inspired by Overwatch. If only 1 or 2 characters looked similar, that'd be a coincidence. But MANY characters are straight up copies, and the characters that don't look like Overwatch characters have a different artstyle than the rest, making it look like they weren't designed by the same people.
I'm sure the game plays different, but visually, Hi-Rez absolutely used the visual style to lure new players into playing their game. And hey, looks like it worked. Still shady tho.
Also of course this is childish, this is the nfohump. What else could it be?
Sure is a good alternative to people who don't want to shell out 60$ for a TF2 clone
Anyway, it's fast, it's fun, it's free And I like that you can actually modify your playstyle with the cards system. It adds something that is missing in OW, IMHO. TF2 had items and weapons, Paladins has its loadout modifier cards, but OW costs the most and has only skins ? I need LOOT dammit ! I'm a hoarder ! Also, Hi-rez did SMITE and also Tribes before (yes yes, a remake too), but they sure aren't new to the MOBA/Class MP FPS milieu
Yeah coming from MMOs and Arpgs the cards definitely help to make the Heroes more interesting to me, stuff is also pretty easy to unlock, the f2p system is very generous.

It is pretty much pay to look good/different since you can unlock all the characters with the in game gold. I have been trying to get that referral thing going to get the Pip Mad Scientist skin but the system is so buggy it seems to only keep track of the top played with person instead of adding them all together so it looks like I will need to get 10 hours teamed with 1 person.
I haven't played the game yet, or really followed the development so far:
- Will you keep the things you unlock during Early Access?
- Also are there any plans, that at full release there will be changes on what or how you can unlock with normal playing?

Nope no wipes they did a lot of changes though, and that included removing or reworking things. Say you bought a chest with gold (you could do that before) when it stopped being purchasable with gold, that gold was returned to you.
So pretty much no, and there won't be any.
They have not announced anything would change at full release and it wouldn't make much sense to change that without wipes.
@tet666
Okay. Still playing Overwatch for a bit nearly every day.
Will give Paladins a try though at the weekend.
OT:
Also what you wrote in your second sentence reminds of of Trendy with Dungeon Defenders 2 (f2p too): They too listened to their users, changed things and were rather generous with giving people their ingame and real money currency back after some changes.
Would probably still have played that, if it didn't became too boring at one point.
Enthoo Evolv ATX TG // Asus Prime x370 // Ryzen 1700 // Gainward GTX 1080 // 16GB DDR4-3200
Well free is still better then even $40 and since most of the other Hi-Rez games have been around for years this one will probably last as well. That said, if I ever won Overwatch in a contest or it goes on sale for $10 or so I would probably give it a try.
I have both but i play this more atm likely cause i'm bored with OW and this is new so whatever i love to play support and it's just not very rewarding in OW while it's great in Paladins.
