In the distant future, a lone programmer devised the most addictive game ever: CRAK. Infatuated with his creation, he became obsessed with reaching the maximum high score. But despite eons and eons of relentless play, he failed to achieve his goal.
Frustrated beyond madness, he uploaded his mind into the game to rule it from within. Adopting the mantle of “CrakHed,” he brought forth craggy space fortresses, endless interstellar highways, and an army of blasphemous servitors marching to the twisted rhythms of his ruined psyche.
But there was a bug in the system. CrakHed’s mind also bore Thumper, the ultimate space beetle. With a natural resistance to his creator’s corruption, Thumper is a being of moderation and restraint. Infuriated by his own error, CrakHed is driven by a new monomanical quest to destroy Thumper.
