They said they were going to take this one to the rally roots. Hope they deliver proper rally gameplay instead of the firecrackers, explosions and "dudes" of the last.
Dammit, where's GRiD 2??? I couldn't care less about these stupid DiRT-games with very little resemblance of true rally.
Agreed. The only incoming title which should provide a decent reproduction of pure rally is WRC 2010 from Milestone, too bad that the gameplay videos released until now are absolutely disappointing.
As for GRiD 2, the only informations given are that it will use the Ego engine 2.0 (as well as F1 2010 and DiRT 3) and that will come out somewhere in 2011.
They are going to be releasing a lot of games next year ,dirt3, f1 2011,possibly grid 2 and possibly dragon rising sequel,Is any other dev going to release so many games in one year.
Doesn't bode well when dirt 3 first vid being shown at xgames for rally fans.
i have no fucking clue what everyone's problem with Shift is , played it with a keyboard first and then with a controller on fucking hard and it was pretty fucking easy , controls were really smooth and cars handled well . Sure i couldnt to a drift for shit but track races were great .
I had a big issue with shift but i was using a wheel, the ffb didnt convey any sense of the car like what you feel driving a sim game or a real car, that wouldnt translate to an issue with playing the game with a controller
Easiest way to describe it is like a port from a console fps that has mouse and controller smoothing built into the engine which you cant turn off when playing on pc.
Next issue was that changing values in the ui didnt always change them in the game ,the rear brakes locked in some cars before front even if you set 60% front and 40% rear.
The ai was atrocious and designed purely for arcade racing and not even much fun then including serious rubber banding.
Another couple of patches by devs would bring it to sim standards buy as it is its still buggy as hell.
It looks just like DiRT 2. And it's a simple trailer, or more like a teaser which doesn't show anything specific. It'll be mediocre like its predecessor.
Looks pretty cool. I enjoyed Dirt 2. I actually bought the game, although I've never played online haha. None the less, it's something fun to play with my 5 year old son that doesn't involve mass killing and tons of gibs.
Codemasters’ own Helios confirmed right here on VirtualR that the third part of the DiRT franchise will be offering much more traditional-style rallying than its predecessors.
This is backed up by chief game designer Matt Horsman who recently revealed some details on DiRT 3 to EDGE Magazine. DiRT 3 will feature a mix of modern and classical rally cars that can be used in an all-new career mode. Players start out as privateer driver in 90s rally machinery and have to work their way up the ladder.
The cars can be raced on over 100 stages, ranging from Norway to Africa, including the site of the most famous rally of them all – Monte Carlo. DiRT 3 will be featuring a dynamic weather system including snow & ice, players will be able to upload their most spectacular replays straight to Youtube.
