It still has the cutesy art style I guess but isn't this one of the darker Tales games?

Though Symphonia pulled out genocide, brainwashing, family tragedy and concentration camps among some other subjects so this might be a bit tame.

EDIT: And with this game being a tad older they might tone down the weird fan service moments and ridiculous outfits a bit.

ToV was great, but "one of the most beloved roleplaying games ever created" is a tad hyperbolic. Still, it will be nice to get this on PC at last.

I liked Tales of Destiny, but I was a teen then. Also Xillia 2.

My problem with Tales and most JRPGs these days is that they're too anime, so their characters are all these stereotypes.

Never really understood why people complain about anime characters, when they're y'know, anime characters? If you don't like the genre.. you're not the target audience.

Sometimes I think some people expect all games should be designed specifically so they'll like them...

Yeah, that's why it's one of the better Tales games. Granted I haven't tried out the latest one yet. I just couldn't deal with the change to hub worlds instead of an open world map sort of thing.

VFR. Does that mean that you can get 60fps outside of battle? Or that the port is so terrible the framerate fluctuates between 10 and 60?
