We're living the renaissance of the adventure genre
Their art-style is spot-on, perfectly mixing 2D and 3D without making it look awkward or out of the place. Hope the gameplay won't be 'Telltalized' so to speak, or it would be a shame.
I haven't tried it yet, but there is an official demo available on Steam as well in case you guys are interested.

A: At first we wanted to make a control design that is worth the gamepad compatibility. There are some Adventure games out there that are not fun to play with a controller, because you control the cursor with the stick. That just makes no sense. We have put enormous effort into the controls and we think that it was worth it. We also have some gameplay mechanics included where you don’t have any point and click at all. That’s why we call the game a modern Adventure and not a point and click Adventure.

Its made for consoles. Gameplay and design wise. Probably more a visual novel than game

I did enjoy the demo, but it felt like it progressed too fast. Hopefully the final game won't be like two hours long.
edit: Alright, never mind. Read the above Q&A just now.
Quote: | Rashid K. Sayed: What kind of play length can we expect with Silence: The Whispered World 2?
Johannes E. Kiel: It depends on how fast you rush through the game. We estimate about 8 to 10 hours. It is a story driven game and we want to give the player the same feeling as watching a good season of a good television series. |

I finished chapter 1 and played quite a bit from chapter 2. It looks gorgeous, but from a technical perspective, which is kinda expected from an adventure game. The artistic direction matches the fairy tale story quite well and the facial animations are expressive in a cutesy way.
The dialogues are amusing and there's nothing too serious in this game so far despite all the characters being chased by some evil monsters. The storytelling keeps switching from Noah to Renie on their separated journeys that should lead to the same destination. There is clear connection between Silence and The Whispered World, but as I haven't played the latter I can't connect all the dots. One thing is sure, one of the important characters from the previous game made his apperance quite early in this one and plays an important role from a gameplay perspective.
I don't fancy the gameplay, it's the old school adventure style of doing things the way the developers want to, but I can't say I dislike it. The addition of a hint button which basically highlights all the objects you can interact eliminates the pixel hunting and that's great. The hint button also describes the objective, but I'm not interested in that.
The controls with mouse and keyboard are ok . I did notice the mouse lacking a basic function in the game's menu, but nothing to be worried about. It's not much to do anyway aside of interacting with objectes, selecting dialogues and moving the characters. The game has no inventory so it doesn't require a complex UI and implicitly a more complex control scheme.
So far so good.

Finished it and it wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be, nevertheless a nice experience. Some of the dialogues and part of the voice acting were quite cringy. Also, this game has more loading screens than actual puzzles, but it is a decent story with an outstanding artistic direction. Still, I wouldn't recommend it for the full price.

I agree, it seems that the mainstream couch hammer really has sneaked past Daedalic's watch, hitting Sadwick in the head
It's a massive departure from the first game, with a completely new (simplified) direction, much more cinematic-driven tone, no inventory, different voice actors, and with considerably less dialogues involved. It's still fundamentally a point and click adventure (sort of), and doesn't go as far as the Telltale movies when it comes to murdering the genre, but the puzzles are really easy and almost automatized at times. A shame.
Though despite everything - and its short length, took me around 4 hours, I quite enjoyed the ride for what it was, in a ~7/10 and never look back isoway. Mainly thanks to the gorgeous art-style, the story and characters which are varied/interesting enough (minus their arcane bipolar disorders ), and the nice cozy feeling of being immersed in a charming world that makes you become a kid again.

Sadly I agree with what both of you guys said.
I wonder what a great game this could have been if it had this art and beauty but with the classic style P&C adventure gameplay.

Another one bites the dust...
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

At the transition point between two markets, Silence might be capturing the attention of older and younger adventurers alike, but I’m not sure which group will enjoy it the most.

Same thing happened to Papo & Yo developers, Minority Media. After a great adventure with some sensible themes and a great execution, they've turned their head to appeal the mass and delivered a really disappointing, mild game. Spirits of Spring.
