Voting is closed, here are the results.

These are the Top 5 PC games of 2016 according to NFOHump:

1. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
2. Dark Souls III
3. DOOM
4. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
5. XCOM 2

It was a close fight between 1-2.

I'm going to list the games that occupy places 6-10, which can make for a more interesting discussion, even though all of these ended significantly behind #5.

6. Dishonored 2
7. Titanfall 2 and The Division (tie)
8. Battlefield 1
9. Stardew Valley
10. HITMAN

I think the big D might've had an important impact on the final placement of Dishonored 2.

Anyway, thanks for voting!

*** Original post: ***

So, it's that time of the year again Very Happy Last year's poll was fairly successful so it's making a return.

Here you can find the results for the Top 5 PC games of 2015:

http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104636

Just name your top 5 games of 2016, and preferably name them in an ordered (from best to least good) fashion. The position you assign to a specific game (1.2.3.4.5) on your list will award it a different amount of points which will be used later (probably first week of 2017) to get the total of points each title gets so I can post the final NFOHump top 5 games of the year. You may edit your list later on if you change your opinion before the voting closes and I start the vote count.

You're free to list only 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 games (or even 0) if you feel like there's no (other) games worthy of being on a top 5 list. You can make "special mentions" after you already picked 5 games if you wish.

Every genre is allowed, and that includes multiplayer titles and meaty expansions of a game previously released.

The scoring by position on your list will be as follow:

1. 10 points
2. 8 points
3. 6 points
4. 4 points
5. 2 points

Special mentions: 1 point.

I start with mine. My list is subject to modification (very likely after I play certain game that starts with a "D") as I haven't played a couple of titles that might be many people's favorite for a GOTY award:

1. Dark Souls III
2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
3. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
4. Doom
5. Sid Meier's Civilization VI

Special mentions: Hitman, Overwatch, Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Again this year I wasn't able to play that many games, including some indie gems some of which might have been included otherwise. But that's why I'd love to see what humpers will vote the most for so I can have an idea about what was really good this year Smile

I think Rise of the Tomb Raider was the only 2016 AAA I played this year, so my list is indie-rific!

Off the top of my head:

1. Stardew Valley
2. The Witness
3. Hyper Light Drifter
4. Firewatch
5. Darkest Dungeon

DOOM - Simple, straightforward shooter but it all works especially with the Vulkan API.
Dark Souls 3 - While not the same impact as the first one I still greatly enjoyed it.
Titanfall 2 - Better than I had expected, really solid SP mode too.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - PC port had a couple of issues but they've patched most of it.
Dishonored 2 - Excellent game but a pretty poor port.

What else is there? Witcher 3 was 2015 as was Dark Souls 3 I believe, Shadow Warrior 2 was solid but the RNG elements brought it down so probably not top-5 and well Mafia 3 was a technical mess (Still is?) and No Man's Sky would be on the "other" top-5 list I think. Razz
(Haven't played enough of Watch_Dogs 2 or Hitman to form a opinion yet, was thinking of waiting for Hitman to be content complete so that's going to take a while and Watch_Dogs 2 became very unstable after the first patch so that's on hold for the moment.)

Need to try and think about what was released in 2016, most of what comes up is from 2015 or earlier.
(RPG's? Strategy? Adventure? All the ones that might fit this list and that I've played are 2015 or earlier as I remember it.)

EDIT:
Indie? Well most of what I've played is early-access and probably going to remain there so not top-5 until some of those are actually released properly.
(Stick a VN in the top 5? Eh would probably cause irreparable damage to some poor guy - or girl? - googling it after getting curious heh.)

Dark Souls 3 came out in 2016 Wink As for Witcher 3, many people consider Blood and Wine a full-fledged game hence why people may vote for it if the so desire (and I sense many will) Smile

I will score your picks in the order you posted them, including special mentions after the 5th game listed.

I remember things fairly well but I do have problems properly placing the time and such which is a bit of a problem, good to know DS3 was a 2016 release and yeah the "DLC" for Witcher 3 would have been known as expansion packs a few years ago. Smile

Oh man, the vote count after the year ends is looking to be much more interesting than last year (freaking Witcher 3 and GTA V powerhouses to blame Very Happy).

1. XCOM2 [good experience but felt 1 playthrough was enough]
2. Dark Souls 3 [first Dark Souls i bothered to complete!]
3. Total War: Warhammer [with mods]
4. Football Manager 2017 [iterative release, still as addictive as ever]
5. Motorsport Manager [good to see more "Manager" type games]

(6. DOOM) [a solid but forgettable shooter. DOOM 2 with 4-player co-op next?]
(7. Titanfall 2) [could use a mode with a lot bigger maps and a higher player count and it'd be great for burst gaming]
(8. Planet Coaster) [that this doesn't have more emphasis on finances/staff/competition is sad]

A boring list for me. Three relatively chill games in 3-5.

I want to add that this year is the first year I haven't bought a Battlefield game since the beginning of that series! I don't even want to play a heavily discounted Battlefield 1.

I tried Titanfall 2 on a weekend trial. It was okay. I could see myself playing it in short bursts.

Overwatch just isn't my type of FPS, and I don't like the graphics style.

I never finished The Witcher 3, I might get around to it again.

I'm all open for the goodness of 2017, may it hold many boons for us all.

I've played very little this year... near nothing from this year. I guess...

1. Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen - forgot it released at the start of this year, definitely my GOTY then, absolutely loved playing this
2. Dark Souls 3

I'll just go on hours played. Probably will even miss a few, 2016 was a bit of a haze gaming wise.

1. Stardew Valley
2. Civilization VI
3. World of Warcraft: Legion (it brought me back after years of disinterest)
4. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
5. Hearts of Iron IV

Plenty of games I haven't played yet.
