No longer a solo movie, Warner Bros. flashed a logo for a "Green Lantern Corps" film on the screen in Hall H, with a release date of 2020.

Rumors of a multi-Lantern approach to the film began making the rounds last month, with actor Chris Pine's name at the center. Tyrese Gibson added fuel to the rumor later in the month, not only hinting that he had been approached to join the then-secret production, but that a big announcement would be made at Comic-Con.

Warner Bros. previously released a "Green Lantern" film starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan in 2011, but the new film will not follow that continuity. Instead, it will fit in with the burgeoning cinematic DC Universe established in "Man of Steel" and expanded in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Chris Pine as Hal Jordan? I can see it. But damn, he'll be almost 40 in 2020. These superhero movies are starting to have announcement dates like video games Laughing

1 and 2 are still amazing.

David Goyer (Batman V Superman) and Justin Rhodes (nothing of value: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1221634/ ) are writing the script. https://deadline.com/2017/01/green-lantern-corps-warner-bros-david-goyer-justin-rhodes-dc-1201884133/

The new version is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story. The focus will be on two characters: Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The latter is an African American Marine sniper before he joined the Lantern Corps and the story very much focuses on his relationship with Jordan and the Corps. The story was conceived by Goyer and Johns.

Shortlist of actors: http://www.thewrap.com/hal-jordan-green-lantern-corps-tom-cruise-jake-gyllenhaal-ryan-reynods/

Quote:
Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Armie Hammer, and Jake Gyllenhaal are on the shortlist of actors DC Entertainment is considering pursuing for the role of Hal Jordan in “Green Lantern Corps,” multiple people with knowledge of the project exclusively tell TheWrap.

The casting process is still in the very early stages, and there are no talks with any of the actors as of yet. DC is considering whether Reynolds, who played Jordan in the 2011 film “Green Lantern,” should return to the role, an insider told TheWrap. His superhero stock soared last year when he starred in “Deadpool.”

Go with Cooper I say.

Joel McHale is kind-of random, but Tom Cruise is just WTF?! Laughing

As for Reynolds Reaction I doubt he wants anywhere near that character again.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

cooper is with marvel for a while...
reynolds is with marvel/fox for a while until deadpool becomes irrelevant.
tom cruise is with universal for the monster movie madness

this is just a stupid wish list.
Why even look at actors you can't touch...

Nah they can do a decent movie... just not with CGI suits... and not focused on green lanterns... should just be like guardians of the galaxy. A heist movie on a 'galactic' scale.
Do a thriller/mystery set on the backdrop of the green lantern lore.

I must be one of the rare few that actually liked that Green Lantern from a few years ago. I thought Parallax was done fairly well and overall enjoyed the flick. Neutral

I watched it just a few months ago. I was with a constant WUT expression the whole time! One of the very worst big budget movies I've ever seen.

Quote:
Green Lantern - 3/10

(The live action movie.) Hard to believe this was made into the early 2010s instead of the early 90s. The costumes, effects and villains are so carelessly thought and put together, they cannot be considered remotely competent in the modern era of comic book movies. And by modern I mean post-1998 (Blade)!

Ryan Reynolds tries his best to be goofy and goofy he is, so he kind of sort of maybe but not really saves the movie from an even lower score.

I would pick Nathan Fillion myself as he already has voiced Hal Jordan in the cartoons so at least he could pull of the character well but would probably need to do some training to get in better shape for the costume. Out of that list though Cooper could work as long as he does not have some exclusive Marvel deal to go along with him voicing Rocket for GotG.

Tom Cruise in the shortlist? Wtf lol ...

I like him but he is too old for some roles nowadays. And the film is in a few years, too.

Yeah, he is great in the animated movies. His voice fits the visuals very well.

Fillion and Cruise are both to old imo, and Fillion looked like he liked living the good life at the end of Castle Wink

Don't know if the Dceu still has the power to draw top shelf actors anymore, after BvS and SS being hammered critically. Although they both made decent money, a turkey could halt your career as Ryan Reynolds discovered after the first Green lantern.

Not sure if Leto and Eisenberger are to happy about having a long term contract now Very Happy

WW and JL has to be much better for me to bother with anything other than a download.
