Nothing to be sorry about, unfortunately this is the truth and what the event has become the last couple of years. There is always some stupid controversy that goes on for way too long and people usually don't pay attention to the games and the runs, while some of them are pretty cool.
I'm watching purely from a nostalgia/gaming perspective and I still manage to find enjoyment in some of the content.
Some mad lad just speedran GeoGuessr. I didn't even know that's a thing, but apparently there's an entire community built around that. Really cool! GeoGuessr/CityGuessr is cool by itself, but seeing his thought process for finding where he was made it that much more interesting.

Nah that's not what I meant.
He started the run with a specific version to use a skip that was patched later on, then afterwards updated the game to a newer version and continued.
Maybe the new patch adds additional exploits:) As far as I know used to be ran DA:O is ran on the first patch - to use the XP exploit.
EDIT: O, they ran DA:I this time. But the reasoning is the same. He uses the Day 1 patch to use the resource duplication glitch and then the current patch to get the schematics.
