|
 |
My turn to bitch about something...
So yeah, spring is coming and I needed to buy new tyres - the previous ones seem to have had enough (a bit skewed geometry on the rear axle killed just the outside part of the rear tyres ). So I thought - why not have my rims renovated, evened out and painted to give them a bit more shine?
So I had and I picked everything up last Friday.
...
Today at about 7 AM I went to work and I noticed something weird in the way the car was standing. The right side was raised more than it should be (Citroen C5 with hydropneumatic suspension, so I can be raised or lowered), definitely not how I had left it the day before.
I looked at the left side of the car...
NO FUCKING WHEELS!!! The car was just standing on a brick.
Yesterday I parked the car by some grass, on the left side of a one way street, and the area was pretty shaded, so I guess the fucktards felt safe enough to mess with those two wheels, but the right side was in plain sight, so those two were left alone. Obviously no one from the apartments nearby saw or heard anything and there are no surveillance cameras in the area...
There's also a chance of those fuckers coming back to get the other two. I've installed those security screws on the rims I do still have (better late then never, right? ... right? ), so they'd better not mess anything else up when they see they can't take leftover wheels off
And the best part is - I pretty much can't do anything to prevent anything else happening. Can't move the car yet, until my brother-in-law brings me some spare rims, and I can't just sit by the car all night and keep an eye on it...
These people...

If you buy bigger wheels make sure the tyres have lower profiles (which is not so good if you drive on roads with many potholes...), so that the total diameter of wheel+tyre is nearly the same (should be less than 2% difference, or your speedometer will be wrong and the suspension geometry is altered).

Yeah, I know. There's a couple of recommended rim dimensions for the car, so I'll stick with those.
And lately I've been driving on highways a lot more than anywhere else, so potholes aren't that much of a problem.
