So, I'm now at a stage where I'm in need of something fresh and new to play, and in spite of a fairly extensive search haven't found anything interesting to fill that void yet. I guess that part of it is that now I'm kind of saturated with the standard games and am looking for something with a rather... specific... tone. So, I thought that maybe someone here could help, perhaps point me to a hidden gem I've missed Smile

Anyway, to make the question more specific:
-I'm now looking for a game that allows you to completely disable in-game savescumming - either through an "ironman mode", or by default. Having fixed save points or checkpoints is fine, but not save-anywhere.
-Bonus points if it's turn-based.
-Rogue-lights and rogue-likes are fine, but rather no early access titles.

Examples of games that match these criteria and which I enjoyed immensely.
 Spoiler:

Anyway, suggestions will be much appreciated - maybe they'll help other people too!

Jagged Alliance 2. Turn-based and has ironman mode.

Link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/1620/Jagged_Alliance_2_Gold/

It has several mods that change the gameplay and maps but I'd recommend that you play through the vanilla version at least once.

EDIT: Great humour too, as well as mercenary personalities. Oh, and speaking of Sir-Tech games:

Wizardry 8! Also has ironman mode.

I guess you already played Divinity: Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny and both The Banner Saga? Can add also Age of Decadence, King of Dragon Pass, Renowned Explorers: International Society, Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Shadowrun: Hong Kong.

@Shadow tactics, JA2, W8: played it, liked it, done with it (it does have savescumming tho)

@Battle brothers: thanks for the tip, looks great, will try it out!

@Expeditions: Vikings: also looks good, will check it out.

@OpenXCOM: I've played the originals a lot in the past, not interested in revisiting a near-clone yet.

Thanks for all the other tips as well.

Hope I'm not threadjacking too much, but any recommendations for RTS games instead? Been looking around and nothing is really grabbing my attention. Thought about busting out Sins of a Solar Empire again but don't necessarily need that kind of scale.

Is it fairly decent now? I heard it was really short and a bit lackluster after release. I think I read that it has improved a lot since launch though.

Well you probably played it and it's old but it's one of my favorites so i'm suggesting it anyway:
Temple of the Elemental Evil by Troika with the Circle of Eight mod.

-King's bounty (no saving in combat)

Damn, you beat me to it :')

Joking aside, you may want to add Salt and Sanctuary when it comes to souls-like gems, and while you're at it, Volgarr The Viking as well for the insane difficulty alone. Smile
As for turn-basedsauce, everything that I had in mind was already mentioned Razz, so Invisible, Inc perhaps? There's also the old glory Silent Storm, but I can imagine that you've played it already.

The Wargame series. The fourth is coming out right about now, it is set in ww2. The others were alternate history Cold War and such.

Invisible Inc. sounds good, will check it out after battle brothers.

Regarding real-time strategy games, what about the new Dawn of War 3? I've heard it's not as bad as one would think.

@The pit: I've played it in the past, but might revisit it in the future.

@Invisible inc.: completely missed that one, based on reviews and game description looks like a very nice candidate, thanks.
