AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW YEAH! If it's anything like GPmanager with more formula's I'm jumping for joy

Edit:
It needs to have modding though since: No licenses at all. No tracks or cars... meh
Is it so much to ask to get a FIA manager like their football manager. Sad

Next Football Manager published by Sega needs to do more new things than 2016, they love releasing new games not really adding anything every single year. I'm not surprised this car manager is lackluster, they need 20 years to iterate...

True, but I think motorsport fans would already sign up for what the Football people are getting. That's how dry the genre is.

Problem with a lot of mobile games is they're written on a multi-platform system, where one click compiles for iOS, Android and Windows - which is almost never a good thing.

(except in the case of my MMO quiz game I never seem to get around to finishing. Now that will be epic. One day.)

Scott Speed sure sounds a bit derp for being in motorsports. 12 year old Verstappen sounds more knowledgable. Laughing

Let's hope he was following a script because I really don't remember him like that. Razz

It's a pity they aren't saying anything about having a look into getting the license for F1 and GP2 now that Liberty Media is (eventually) taking it over. First sounds from LM is that they want more revenue by investing time/effort into digital broadcast, merchandise, games, VR... might end up with a few more games having the actual teams in the game and just one developer for the Official F1 'insert year' title.

Might be good to see what's out there in the near future.

Some gameplay:

The game isn't about realism, it's a management sim with a fantasy motorsport theme.
Some stuff is just weird, like chamber angle affecting aero.
The fact that they don't have a F1 licence is the least of it's shortcommings.
I hoped this would be a football manager type of franchise for F1 management, but the devs are not even trying.

Still seems like a fun game for a couple of hours though

Why are people saying no depth? I'm finding it quite intriguing, you seem to get control over pretty much everything, from drivers to car parts, the ingame strategy works like I would expect. I have no idea how much of a 'simulation' it is yet, I'll wait for others to rip the game engine to bits... but it certainly isn't a terrible game.

Well.. i am enjoying it. It could have more interaction between drivers/media/engineers but overall it's a nice upgrade from the mobile one.

Cons: It has a LOT of rubberband, probably more than the mobile version and some bugs like AI using soft/supersofts when raining and my car getting destroyed by then because i must use inter/wets

Ok, so now I hate the game.

* Soaked track. I anticipate the weather so I move from inters to wets. Complaints from drivers, which I ignore. AI drivers continue on worn inters through the storm, which means I lose 10 or so places and the AI carries on as if the track was just a bit damp.

* It appears so far that if you are lapped, you ain't unlapping yourself. Situation as above, for a very brief moment I was lapping over a second faster than the leader, who I was behind for 3 laps with no chance of passing, even if I was faster.

* Qualifying is just a one shot affair which just irritates me.

* Tyre wear is still confusing - I can't seem to identify how the grip is affected by the remaining wear - the driver's complain, but I hardly ever see a 'locked up' message - which you would expect on close to the edge tyres.

* Driver comments can be just childish and unfunny - ' British idiot' isn't something I imagine any driver shouting out. Except perhaps Raikkonen on a particularly bad day. Otherwise it just makes the game sound like it was written by 15 yr olds.

I WANT to like the game - some parts are very nice, but the core engine just seems a little bit random to me. I can't decide if I like the practice session idea of tuning the car to find the correct balance for the driver and track - I suppose it IS how it works in the real world (obv very much simplified), but it just feels more like a mini-game than actual simulation (and yes I know this is really a pseudo-sim).

I think as mentioned up there, I want a proper management sim, with the feeling you are actually running the team. Never going to happen of course. Even this game is bordering on too complicated for the average smartphone game-player to which this is so obviously aimed. I was half expecting to see 'Upgrade Coins' to buy for real cash - to speed up development times...

If I had to rate the game, I'd give it a 3/5.

Pretty much sums up what I think. Also, drivers are really error-free here. In 10 races, there was only 1 crash. Compared to the real world it's quite the miracle.

The game has a lot of potential and is fun to play, but suffers from a number of game breaking bugs, it's not in a finshed state. Think it will be great after 2-3 patches.

Game breaking bugs:
-You're car will be worse at the start of a new season making career play impossible
-Driver contract renewals are bugged

And wet weather tires are broken: There is a treshold that gives a 10 sec a lap penalty for using the wrong tires that is in somewere in between mild and heavy rain and it''s all or nothing. You're lap time will suffer 10 secs using intermediates in light and medium rain. But when the track is a bit wetter dry's will lose you 10 secs a lap. There is no way knowing when to switch tires besides carefully following ai drivers, they pit immediatly when the track is wet enough.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/559430/
Release Date: 22 Feb, 2017
Quote:
The GT Pack brings a fresh and exciting challenge, expanding our world of motorsport to the thrilling environment of closed-wheel racing! Managers can fight it out in two series, the proving ground of the GT Challenger Series and the prestigious International GT Championship, with both championships populated with new teams, drivers and staff.

Our beautiful GT cars utilise the brand new Energy Recovery System, which is a real game-changer. As the car moves around the track, it harvests energy, which managers can decide to use in two ways: Hybrid mode, which saves fuel, or Power mode, which gives your car an huge surge of energy, allowing for dramatic overtakes and defences of a position.

The ERS can transform a manager’s approach to race strategy, adding a new layer of strategy. Rival teams will be boosting and enter hybrid mode as well, meaning that managers will need to keep on top of their opponents’ strategies in order to maximise their performance.

The vehicles themselves operate on a modified version of the simulation model, so that they better reflect real-life GT cars. There are notable differences in braking and cornering speeds, tyre wear, pit stop times and the weight impact of fuel. The pack racing is much tighter, meaning that the first few laps are often white-knuckle thrillrides, with high speed overtaking action a regular occurrence.

It’s not just the races which have changed. A ballast system (exclusive to the GT series) changes up practice sessions, impacting the way that managers think about their drivers, with driver weight impacting how flexible your setup can be. Meanwhile, Three Stage Qualifying makes its first appearance in Motorsport Manager, bringing a new challenge on Saturdays. Cars are eliminated after each qualifying round, meaning that getting through to the final stage is all-important. The top 10 cars have their tyre choices locked for the start of the race, forcing more care over tyre usage, as well as new qualifying and race-start strategies.

GT teams are financed differently, with different car part prices to deal with. Smaller sponsor payments mean that profit margins are lower then the single-seaters, meaning that the player will have to make even tougher decisions on how to improve their team.

On the political front, if a manager owns the GT Pack, Three Stage Qualifying and the Energy Recovery System can be voted into the single seater category – or make use of Steam Workshop to start a new game with those rules active!

So DLC gets ERS and the game doesn't get (K)ERS?
Should have been in there from the start.
