Ghost Song is a 2D "metroidvania" style game that not only gives players that feeling of isolation and minimalism Super Metroid fans long for, but also delivers an emotionally powerful story. This story is told not through pages of exposition or long cut scenes, but through being in the game, being in the moment, and observing events as they unfold. It's a highly ambient, atmospheric approach to story that falls somewhere between Super Metroid and Dark Souls in its tenor.
Code:
Large, open ended world to explore
Challenging and rewarding gameplay
Precise, responsive controls
Obtain a range of new abilities to unlock progress to new areas
Optional hidden weapons and abilities that that are not required to proceed, incentivizing exploration
Large and challenging bosses and mini bosses
A slinky, resourceful foe who stalks you throughout the game
Atmospheric and lonely tone
Initially for Windows PC and Mac, with other platforms possible in the future
Now I don't know much about Metroid since I just didn't manage to get around to play them and now I don't even have the patience to search for all of them, set them up and play them. Maybe sometime... I did see the LP of Metroid Fusion made by Matt, Woolie and partly Liam too (Super Best Friends Play - also part of the TwoBestFriendsPlay channel) and all I can think of when I see this game is METROID! No, not that it's a metroidvania... it looks more like it's an actual Metroid game, hehe...
I wanted to give it a whirl but the game revolves around an aiming system that doesn't actually support the mouse at all. Then again, after only nine years of development there just wasn't the time to implement that feature
Imagine the arrogance / ignorance of developing a game for PC (Steam) and considering that mouse is not necessary...
Who the fuck are these developers?!
Excellent developers / artists but piss-poor reasoning...
If, like me, you are left handed then you realise how many developers do not bother to implement key mapping as standard, just try and hold the mouse in your left hand and use WASD?
How hard is it to allow us to change WASD to the arrow keys.!
