Bah pet stores!

Some friends of mine have guinea pigs which my 9 year old nephew was crazy about and since he often comes to visit, I decided to get some for myself. They're pretty fun and don't bite so it seemed like a good choice for him.

So I went to the pet shop and asked for two females (males can get aggressive I was told). They double checked the sex and off I went with a huge ass cage and a bunch of other accessories, €120 poorer in total.

We're two months later now and I've grown fond of the little buggers - they've grown tame and enjoy keeping me company when watching TV or playing PS4 games. Even when I doze off in the couch, they join me and fall asleep on top of me.

But early this week when picking up one of the two, I thought I felt a swelling on the rear of one of the piggies. After close examination, I was puzzled and asked on a guinea pig forum only to be told: yep, it's a male!

So not only do I now have to pay €100+ to have the male castrated, I have to buy all the stuff AGAIN (second cage, second water bottle, second tube for it to sleep in) and keep them separated for at least two months! In total, it will cost me at least €200! And of course the pet store will refuse to take any responsibility ...

Instead of paying for a castration why don't you print out a tiny pic of Chealsea Clinton and hang it inside their cage?

Yeah, I guess a pic of Hillary Clinton would be animal cruelty.

Funny thing is: piggies tend to hate jumping so rarely do it - even when it means they can escape their cage. Yesterday, I put up a wall (feeling like Trump now) to separate the two in the cage until I found another cage. And guess what? The little fuckers suddenly became super-piggies and jumped over the 30cm wall as if it was nothing!

Knowing my luck, all this is for nothing anyway and the female is already pregnant. Of course, piggy pregnancies are THREE FREAKIN MONTHS and I only had them for two so basically, I won't know for at least another month whether she's pregnant or not Evil or Very Mad

Melt some butter in a pan, then fry it up with some ginger and paprika.

Add sauce of choice, and simmer for 40 mins.

Serve with Basmati rice.

We need more people to tell him to cook the guinea pig. Clever and original at this point.

Yeah, I didn't get the joke the first thirteen times

But I love the little buggers - they really are very affectionate and make great couch buddies. They even wait to pee or poop until they're back in their cage. Yesterday I watched all of Young Frankenstein with the male on my chest while laying back in the couch and he clearly enjoyed it.
