I've had fugu! Wasnt that big a deal actually. Tasted pretty average!

Yeah i know! But the mortality rate of fugu afficionados has been blown out of proportion, it's just around a 100 people a year that die from fugu poisoning. And those 100 eat fugu that has been prepared by an unlicensed chef.
The fugu contains a lot of tetrodotoxin, a powerful toxin that will shut down your CNS faster than an all-day Charmed marathon. The lethal dose of tetradotoxin for a full-grown man would fit on a pinhead. Tetrodotoxin is 1200 times deadlier than cyanide, and one blowfish contains enough poison to kill 30 people.
The blowfish to be eaten is shown to the diners. The sushi chef opens the fish and removes all of its organs, specifically the liver which contains the deadly poison. The fins are then removed and fried, then served in hot sake, known as Fugu Hire-zake. The blowfish skin is removed, and de-spiked with pliers, and the skin is then placed in a salad known as Yubiki, flavored with a vinegar/soy dressing called Ponzu. After the skin is removed, the head is cut off and the chef fillets the fish for use in sashimi and then served to the guests.
Expensive though, i think we paid around $850 for four servings!

If you're so interested in toxins: How about this: The lethal dose of tetrodotoxin for guinea pigs is 15 micrograms/kg. But the botuline toxine (you know, botox = toxin from the bacteria clostridium botulinum) has a lethal dose of 0.0005 micrograms/kg. So that means that one gram of that shit roughly kills 30 million people. 24 season 5?
