looking sweet and sounds promising.
i'm glad the proposed title is 2007, shows they're planning on putting a lot of effort into it and aren't just rushing out another installment.
UT was fantastic, and a lot of people say 2003 was disappointing, but 2004 was excellent, mostly as a result of them taking fan feedback on board when designing it, responding to both criticism of 2003 and new ideas. if they keep that attitude up there's no stopping the UT series going from strength to strength

*Graphics card explodes from the thought of trying to generate those images at an acceptable framerate*

it was done with a 6800U and they said the framerates were in the 30s. If that's what it's like in an unfinished tech demo, how smooth do you think it will run in a full blown world with 20+ players. I just hope they optimise this bitch well.

Hah.... Remember Geforce 3 presentation, and Doom III tech demo on that presentation. And then, they said GeForce is quite enough for 30fps...AHAHAHA.... It same wit U3 engine and 6800U. The only thing that makes me happy in this U3 engine story, is RED ORCHESTRA on that engine. WOOOOHOOOOO ! Lifelike, Cinematic... whatever. Band Of Brothers Interactive Babyyyyyyyyyyyy !

hmm....i read something before that said they used dual overclocked 6800 ultras and overclocked to 5.0 GHz pentium 4 EE processor.
now which do you think would be more realistic, especially considering the engine isn't even optimized performance wise yet.

So far I havent seen anything attributed to the gameplay of this new Unreal yet - dont get me wrong, those are the best outdoor graphics and player models I have ever seen in a game, but what exactly will set the gameplay of this one apart from, say, ut2004 onslaught? And another tournament game is a waste of the engine tbh - I want to see a new singleplayer game with this baby
Kudos to epic for making this insanely awesome engine tho. Sure is a step up from Tim Sweeny's ZZT! Peace, |
You doubt it? People said the same thing about half-life 2 and doom 3, "oh noes this wont even run on a 3ghz with a 6800 gt", rrrright...
What people gotta learn, is that as technology increases the Graphics AND preformance increase simultaneously. An excellent example is normal mapping or even just bump mapping, tiny preformance hit versus huge visual impact, combined with leaps forward in polygon processing equals a better looking game that also runs better than most older games.
And if you think this is the best outdoor scenes you have ever seen then look up the new elder scrolls 4 game (it is 4 right? lol)
(im talking vegetation, nothing can beat what we have seen architecturwise from unreal engine 3

I wish I still had that quote from epic where they said the 9800pro and fx5900 series would seem like the geforce4 mx cards when this game comes out. Also, like I said, the techdemo was run on a 6800U at 30 frames per second. I remember that doom3 ran at 30 when it was first shown on a 9700pro, and that was pretty accurate for the frames it got running at those details when the game actually game out. At any rate, I'm sure x800 and 6800 users will comfortably run this game on high at 1024 or 1280 or sommit, but I still have my doubts about max details Peace,
fear the led zeppelin that was!
