Action RPG Lucah takes players to a distorted place, using bright colors, shuddering creatures, and striking, unsettling animations to create the sensation of moving through a nightmare.
Players control Lucah, a child who is one of the Marked, a being of great power that is hunted and feared in this world. After a bad dream, Lucah finds themselves in this bizarre ritual space, and it will be up to the player to guide the child in combat against the beasts that look to kill them.
Players will have several combat options to deal with the surreal creatures they fight. Mantras, which are sets of light and heavy elemental attacks, can be selected from to give varied strikes. They will also have long-range support from several different familiars, or can deal devastating damage through charged magical spells. Players can also swap between many of these attack styles on the fly, allowing them to chain combos across different Mantras/Familiars. They will need to watch their stamina as they attack, though, as it drains with every strike and needs time to recharge.
Lucah won’t always be on the offensive, and can parry attacks or evade to get out of the way. Should either of those fail, Lucah can use the limited power of a Rewind to get another chance to stay alive. Players can increase their survival chances with equipped Virtues that can boost stats, or level up using the material the defeated Nightmares drop.
The world of Lucah is animated using scratched, colorful lines, many of which only give a hint as to what the player is seeing or encountering. These shapes and figures give the player a sense of being in a waking nightmare where they’re hunted by beings they can only barely perceive, creating a sense of horror within the game’s world.
As one of the Marked, you must use your cursed powers to fend off the Nightmares that hunt you.
