OK, so I am enjoying Grid 2, I think I got it last year during the Xmas giveaways, thankings you. Anyway, the handling is super-aggressive and I adore it but it gets a little hectic sometimes. Also, the events last *way* too short. Some events are over after 50 seconds of racing, literally. Its campaign is good, there is some reasonably nice progression.
I have also installed Dirt 2, is it a good game to jump to when I beat Grid 2? I don't really like straight-up rally games, this one seems to have stadiom events etc. Any other suggestions? Shift 2? I enjoyed the first a lot until I progressed to a point where the cars were so fast that they would fly off the track at the slightest bump.
No multiplayer bullshit and no hardcore simulations that aren't playable with a gamepad please.
I enjoyed the first Test Drive Unlimited a LOT, maybe try the sequel?

TDU 2 was a piece of shit imho. It's handling is worse than aids.
As a TDU fan, you can try Forza Horizon 3. It runs really well (now that it has been properly patched by MS), the events are fun but the game is also quite small. Think 1/3 of TDU but with much more cars. Though I liked TDU more than FH3
Forza Motorsport 7 should be fine too if you don't want too much simulation but a little bit of spectacle
If you liked Shift, Shift 2 is a great update! But you could also try Project Cars 2, which is just a better driving Shift and the game that Project Cars 1 should have been. Just enable the assists and it will be easy to drive with the gamepad (Project Cars doesn't have those great looking events though!)

I like open-world racing games more than closed tracks, so my vote goes to Forza Horizon 3. Though I did enjoy Grid 2, the later parts of the series never really hit home for me.

On PC it is rather slim pickings for these types of games. shift, pcars and grid only spring to mind. The rest are either full arcade or go deeper into sim. Well, there's Forza... but I never played those apart from the first one on my sexbox.
TDU2 is quite the disappointment. I'd skip it, but if you are curious how bad it turned out it's just an ISO away.
There's more fun to be had on the console side I guess... but that comes with its own flaws.

I also have urge to play some sp racing games.
I absolutely loved NFS Underground games, Test Drive Unlimited1 and amazing Burnout Paradise... not sure if I've finished any other racing game... maybe Lego racer as a kid.
I do keep my eye on Grip and Redout. Anything else worth playing? Arcadey or semi-sim? Shame that Forza games are on m$

I hate that store and pumping money into it.. I only have gow4 there and that shit took ages to download and required twice it's size for update... I reinstalled windows since then and never logged into store again... But forza does looks good

If you like Grid 2, then Driver San Francisco could indeed be right up your alley, it has a similar drifty approach only in a city instead of regular circuits and with an actual story. I'd say Dirt 2 is a good option as well if you don't like the classic rally formula since it's mostly based on the American X-derp..err Games.
Definitely give a try to Shift 2 too, but don't forget to mod it to hell and back, the vanilla game is far from being balanced and polished. It's nothing too tricky, apply the Unofficial Community Patch, Ultimate mod UCP Compatible and PTMu (they can be found here) and you're good to go.
I would also add Ride 2 if you don't mind bikes, it's pretty much a Gran Turismo-like title with a decent career on top of it (you can avoid the first game, it's quite average).
Alternatively, there are Gas Guzzlers Extreme and Carmageddon Max Damage (latest version, the one that doesn't feel like an early access game), pretty damn entertaining if you're looking forward to pure arcade racing games with the ability to cause complete mayhem.
Even if you're not into more simulative approaches, I wouldn't dismiss PCars 2 though, it's very scalable and perfectly playable with the gamepad as well, offering a solid range of circuits and cars and a..serviceable career. It is rough around the edges and the AI is unpredictable, but they're patching it at least *it's something*.
