"keep in mind that all the media is at least one to two years old, in case of ingame material showing an very early build, and it is possible that in the end not everything will be in the final game."
"Races and tournaments on actual closed racing circuits are planned to play a bigger role this time. Also a full 24 hour night and day cycle is planned to finally find its way into the game. Will be of importance cause some missions and races will be only accessible at a certain time."
" Pink Whale's CAR WASH service is more then happy to serve their customers this time around"
"In case you wondered what happened to all the normal cars and bikes after you heard all that off-road stuff, don't worry, nearly all, if not all your favorite makes from TDU will be back including some new ones. But since this is something where licenses are involved, nothing can be confirmed nor denied at the moment until the deals are fix, and as you may know from the past, licensing issues like to appear at the very last moment.
In case of cars, you will have this time a bit more control, not just the windows or the radio, this time you will be able to turn on, turn off the windshield wipers, thanks to the rain, or in case you are driving an convertibel, open/close the roof, just to name a few.
The world is planned to be more richer in detail, to have more life, thanks to that that the people in the game will actually talk this time around, there will be a story, you will have to fight your way up to the top, not just switching from one task to another like in TDU."
"Yes, this time it won't be only sunshine, the weather will change dynamically to cloudy/foggy, rain up to heavy tropical thunder storms, all which will influence both your maneuverability as well as your visibility."

I don't mind if it has many similarities to the first game as long as handling is improved.

Yeah, pretty decent game, better car handling would make it even better. Hope they include all the cars from the car packs for TDU1.

I remember Test Drive from the Amiga days. It used to be very good in a Porsche Unleashed kind of way. Today driving games are too arcadish and restricted. I like driving on regular roads with traffic and random encounters. Doesn't need a lot of cops, helicopters, robbers and whatnot.
Oh yeah and a customizable car you can buy new mods for as you earn money gives the game a needed layer of RPG.

Hate playing a part 2 with the same environment...
They should make a new map... Owell...
Hopefully they put some new roads and such in...
Putting "offroad" in doesnt mean a part 2, but only a add on... |
Well it was Hawaii, which island would you like to play on now?

They should put so much more in TDU2...
DAMN, going into your club house and you dont even see each other or even showing off your car collection and such...
There is just so much missing from TDU1 that hopefully will be put in TDU2...
TDU1 gets so old after 10 minutes of play because there isnt anything to do ingame...
My friend and I want to race against BOTs, but no, not ingame...
Owell...

My favorite racing game to date is still the old NFS: High Stakes.
I loved being able to add old NFS cars (like the batmobile), and loved the police chase elements.
Seems since then everything has to have licensed cars, mico management upgrades, and just a lot less fun and more work involved in playing.

Nope, no streetunder, wrong wish.
The right wish would be to hope they release it when it's ready, and in a much better state than TDU1. The mere frustration of getting to race online sometimes, or other parts of the online elements should be more than fixed before this game is released.
I remember being in the ATARI forum for quite a long time, and all the frustration that was shown in the posts from people demanding patches for all too many things.
If they're going to make TDU2 finally, then make it quality, don't make it fast.

ATARI TO TRANSFORM ONLINE RACING WITH
TEST DRIVE® UNLIMITED 2
Join Thousands of Players Online, Race the Worlds
Most Coveted Cars, and Live the Ultimate Luxury Lifestyle
New York, NY (March 3rd, 2010) – Atari, SA, one of the world’s most recognized videogame publishers, and much-acclaimed developer Eden Games, are proud to announce the newest installment in the legendary racing franchise with Test Drive® Unlimited 2 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.
Test Drive Unlimited 2 expands on the traditional racing experience providing gamers with M.O.O.R.®: Massively Open Online Racing®; immersing drivers in a persistent online environment and revolutionizing multiplayer racing communities as players compete, team up, and share their achievements and creations online. Unlike any other driving game, TDU2 blends the open world experience with realistic vehicles and performance dynamics and for the first time, TDU2 features vehicle damage, weather effects, day and night cycles, and a brand new island to explore.
The first Test Drive® Unlimited innovated the racing genre with an immersive online and offline experience - over 1 million players created online accounts. Test Drive Unlimited 2 blends the single player and multiplayer experiences seamlessly, creating a dynamic world of unique content and challenges. Test Drive Unlimited 2 is “always live,” with automatic updates and seamless online/offline integration. A revamped single player narrative mode can be played offline or as part of the multiplayer experience.
“After the highly successful Test Drive Unlimited which redefined the genre with massively open online racing, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be an innovative evolution in racing games, expanding its unparalleled multiplayer experience and immersing players in a world full of new online content and lifestyle customization.” said Jeff Lapin, CEO of Atari, SA. “The game fits squarely into our strategy of moving online and generating new revenue streams while maintaining our current retail business.”
Test Drive Unlimited 2 puts the world’s most desirable vehicles in the players hands. These ultra-limited edition masterpieces are flawlessly replicated with Eden’s finely tuned driving technology. Players define their online persona through the customization of their vehicles, and the acquisition of property, clothing and all the accoutrements of a luxurious car-based lifestyle. The challenge comes to life with the most expansive and comprehensive multiplayer offering on the console and the ultimate refinement of the core Test Drive driving experience. All-new race types, vehicle classes, environmental challenges, locations and much more push this epic franchise to new levels of performance and luxury.

As long as we can cruise with more than 8 players (unlimited would be nice), have actually working community features and the game is not a bug-ridden pile of mess, they got a costumer. Despite the abissimal state of the previous game, I still thourougly enjoyed it, but still...
