Omega Quintet is a video game developed by Galapagos RPG, a subsidiary of Compile Heart, for the PlayStation 4. A hybrid between an idol simulation game and a Japanese role-playing game, the player plays as Takuto, the manager of the Verse Maidens, an idol group that use the power of song and dance to fight off a phenomenon called the "Beep" ,which has been degenerating the life of humankind by affecting their minds, and save the world.
Plot
The game's prominent characters are the "Verse Maidens", an idol group with the power to fight off the Beep. These powers are used to fight the Beep and save mankind, by giving them hope and dreams. The members of the Verse Maidens are Otoha, Kyoka, Kanadeko,Nene, and Aria.
Otoha is new member of the Verse Maidens, who is hard worker who is always positive, but is also still growing and can be prone to making clumsy mistakes.
Kyoka has a strong sense of responsibility who does her job as a Verse Maiden while caring for others, and also has a hard time expressing feelings.
Kanadeko has an explosive personality and often makes decisions without thinking clearly
Nene is very timid and often nervous and weak-willed, who often shies away and hides behind Kanadeko
Aria, who is the eldest member of the Verse Maidens, who is mysterious and tends to distance herself with her speech and behavior.
Other characters include Takuto, protagonist of Omega Quintet, described as a positive guy who acts as the Verse Maidens' manager and bodyguard, Momoka, a veteran Verse Maiden, Ayumi, Momoka's manager, Shiori, Kyoka's coach, Godou, the leader of the neighbourhood watch, and Tomekichi, a fan of the Verse Maidens, and is the leader of one of the supporting fan groups.
Gameplay
The game features "costume destruction" in a manner similar to Senran Kagura, which happens when the girls get parts of their clothing torn off as a result of taking repeated damage from enemies.
Another feature in the game is the "PVS (Promotion Video System)", which allows players to make their own dance video and custom live performances to their liking.[11] This is done choosing over 150 dances for the characters. Omega Quintet lets players make light waves and effects using the PlayStation Move controller, and they can feature in the music video itself by using the PlayStation 4 camera.[6] During the game's fights, its Voltage Gauge fills up when Takuto protects the idols when the player attacks the enemies. When it rises to a certain point, the player can activate Live Mode, which gives the idols bonuses. The player must also adjust the turn order successfully, as team attacks are formed if characters act one after each other.[12]
I usually like japanese spam bulshit on steam, but ghostlight & co. games are as generic as they come. I just wished someone payed Tri-Ace a boatload of money so they would bring Star Ocean and Infinite Undiscovery to PC
well from what Ghostlight brought us .... Agarest and Way of Samurai series are great ... rest is pretty much standard CompileHearts fare thats not Neptunia with weird theme.
Star Ocean is Squeenix JP and they are really weird about PC ... mostly dropping stuff out of nowhere
It's been a while since we talked about Omega Quintet, but after announcing the game, the feedback we received was really positive! As an update, I'm pleased to say that the port is going extremely well with our lead programmer busily working on rewriting the libraries which is probably the most complex part of the process. We're currently still expecting to put Omega Quintet out on Steam in late 2017 so watch this space for more news in the coming weeks.
Hi everyone. I know that recently, lots of you have been asking whether we could include Japanese audio in the Steam version of Omega Quintet. Well, I'm delighted to say that - after talking to our incredibly helpful partners in Japan, Idea Factory – we will indeed be including the Japanese voice work in our Omega Quintet Steam release!
I'd like to say a big thank you to the team over at Idea Factory for allowing us to use the Japanese audio and also to everyone who contacted us to ask about it. We definitely appreciate how important it is to you and we always want to give you the best release possible, so your feedback is always hugely valued.
Originally releasing for the PlayStation 4 in the west during 2015, the PC port will launch via Steam on December 15th – with a 40% discount available during the first week of sale.
