As the player you take the role of Ash, a natural but tormented leader. In that role you explore a post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland to gather the resources necessary to establish a refuge for survival. With dwindling resources, simple tasks like upgrading equipment and collecting materials quickly require an expedition to scavenge the necessary items. In the search for survival materials, players must navigate a vast territory, in which they will encounter Eldritch monsters and an even greater foe: the unrelenting winter. While freezing temperatures constantly take their toll on the player Ash, the deadliest event is that of a blizzard. If caught by surprise, it takes every ounce of skill, determination and luck to survive.
In order to survive and overcome all challenges, the player needs to attract followers, bringing them into thei refuge. Each individual skillset and character traits grants access to higher tier resources and gear. Without such advances, the player character can scavenge only the barest necessities, crafting makeshift tools and weapons.
- Explore a vast winter landscape: The launch version lets you explore a river delta, a dense forest region and cultivated farmland of an 8km² area.
- Wolf Sled Expeditions: Pack your sled, take a follower with you and engage in long term expeditions into the farthest regions.
- Fight System: Tiered weapon system, melee and ranged combat.
- Moral choices: Save and recruit various NPCs to join your group. Harsh choices have to be made; who do you take, who do you leave behind.
- Battle increasingly dangerous Eldritch creatures that roam an apocalyptic world.
- Trust your inner voice. It is your friend.

Looks very rough.
And sadly i doubt it will look more polished after it leaves EA.
Also like most of the top comments write: Those aliens / demons look out of place.

well the whole point of the game is Snowy survival + Eldritch monster :... if you take them out you basically have Long Dark
to me it looks better in this pre-EA state than most of these survival games on V1.0 launch
EDIT: LOL the whole discussion under the video is retarded
I watched some streams, the game is extremely streamlined for a survival. The map has a ton of markers and if that wasn't enough, there is a special vision that highlights everything. The Eldritch elements don't seem all that awesome either. This would have been a great opportunity to make a Mountain of Madness in a more modern setting, but that isn't the case here.
It looks like it could be fun tho and less buggy than most EA survival games are at launch.
I bought it and tried briefly...
Runs extremely bad ~20 fps or something at maxed. -> everything to minimum -> 40-60 (looks horrible when everything is set to minimum) (specs should be in sig).
As it's EA, the beginning of the game is not explained in anyway. I went and killed few monsters and picked flowers, but there was no indicator of what to do at all (I could find a base building menu, but not crafting etc. (it's probably somewhere, I just didn't check the key binds etc.))
You cannot JUMP! (Space does just a slow 'dodge' roll), you get stuck in geometry when running. You cannot turn when you sprint.
It's just... bad.
I'll let it mature a while, maybe it gets better.

Played it a it. Although I don't get that low fps rate it still lags but it's a given because of engine and early access status. Other than that:
Positives: it's a nicely done, worlds nothing to exciting, I think that the main story will be nice, there is a variety of crafting items to be made, survival mixed combat type of genre which is OK by me etc.
Negatives: movement is clunky, definitely needs an FoV option because it's unbearable, no tutorial but you can still get around playing a bit, no jump as you say which is stupid and the worse when you run you cannot use mouse for direction--he just runs at a straight line etc.
Seems OK but needs a lot of work. Waiting to see how it progresses.
Thanks for the impressions guys, I'll wait for the game to end its long and troubled earlyaccessian journey before touching it (assuming that there will actually be a happy ending, that is ). Judging from the videos there seem to be indeed too many consolish limitations/compromises for my tastes, though the setting combined with the single-player survival elements here do look and sound intriguing..we shall see.
Survivors!
On the 30th of April, Fade To Silence will emerge from Early Access and at the same time also be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The suggested retail price will be $39,99/39,99€ on PC. Console editions will be at $49,99 / 49,99€.
New Content and Features in the Release Version
Experience the final story line, telling the history of Ash, his daughter Alice and the apocalypse that befell the world. Players will find out how it all came to pass, who is responsible for the eternal winter, and what role the entity, known as Inner Voice, holds in all of this.
The story will be told in dream sequences. Whenever Ash is resting there is a chance for him to experience mysterious dream snippets in which the story unfolds.
We have completely overhauled the tutorial phase in the beginning of the game. Fade To Silence is a complex game that needs explanation, especially for first-time players. So the reworked tutorials offer players a streamlined pacing, and safer learning spaces where they can learn the mechanics of the game.
In the new survival book, you can look-up game and survival mechanics. This is a new feature that helps you to better familiarize yourselves with the game. As new mechanics are introduced, an entry will be added to the survival book which you can look-up at any time in the game.
Access the dream gallery to watch the unlocked dream sequences in chronological order. The dream sequences are broken down cut-scenes and appear in a random order. To enable you to revisit your dreams, and experience them in chronological order, each unlocked dream sequence is displayed in a dedicated gallery.
Enjoy new and reworked “quality of life” features. Our designers reworked the UI and HUD to improve accessibility and clarity, improved the game economy and overall balancing. In addition, the combat system will be fairer and more responsive.
We will use the time until release to continue to polish the game, work on performance, and fix bugs. Watch out for a full change-log on release.
Prepare for the final chapter!
You cant jump in dark souls either. Sucks, but doesnt mean its bad. I'll give it a try
someone replied on another forum that you actually can jump.. and you can jump in DS too, but it was never really that useful, there was one place you had to jump to in DS 1 i remember, it was also kind of hard to jump.
2 crashes in about an hour. Avoid until they fix that. Otherwise it is atmospheric, but weak combat. Can't dive deeper when it keeps crashing and I'm dumped back at the base. :/

You can't jump in the traditional way. Jumping in DS is nothing but annoying.
