Hi!

So I just got a new computer, installed Windows 10 over it and now I'm transferring over all the stuff I want from my old computer to this new one (since I don't want those old harddrives either)... But I have a weird problem.

It only transfers over the internet (meaning I'm gimped by my upload speed). Both computers are connected to the same router and both have internet. They're also both in the same homegroup.

But for some reason they choose to transfer between each other through the internet rather than over you know, the network? Razz My old computer did not have this issue. Is this some kind of Windows 10 setting I don't know about that I need to change?

*Edit* Both computers are using Windows 10.

Network shares.machines appear to be all hard wired to same router. Just copy/paste in windows explorer.

Windows 10..ahahha. I had homegroup share problems with it. I upgraded to Windows 7 and all machines are in harmony again. no more issues.

Try using advanced sharing instead as I've found it to work better than "regular" sharing.

What Janz wrote, but just remember that anyone on the network will have access to it (if they know where to look). I usually shared it with my own user-account and password because I'm paranoid.

That's really strange that it doesn't go through your LAN and goes outside instead, seems like a security flaw IMO.
You're not on a VLAN och anything like that or different subnets?
