OH-MY-GOD!
This is just too awesome. This is one of my most wanted (if not the most wanted) games this whole year. I was expecting this around the 26-27th since that's when it goes retail, so this review copy was a huge surprise and an awesome surprise Smile

This is old school 2D rpg at it's best.

If you like console-rpg this is a MUST get.

Yes I already said it's a review copy 4 Door ITR.
But it's still the full game. Although, there are a few bugs in the voices, like a high pitch, but it's rare. This can be because I run the game from the HDD though, so it's up to you to try on a disc Smile
But like I said, the pitch happens very rarely and it's just for like 1-2sec or the time it takes you to read the message, so it's no big deal.

Are there two version of this game released?

One was released or ripped by GeNiuS where the Movies have been removed therefore its on CDR - Which sucks, cause there are no movies.

And ofcourse this version

Atelier Iris Eternal Mana (c) Gust-Nis *FULLDVD* *NTSC* AVATAR

Are they the same or does the AVATAR version have all the movies? I want the whole game not some CDR rip.

Well thats good to know how could I miss that part LOL! Razz

Looks like I will have to wait for that version, cause the only one I have access to, is the Genius CDR release. BAH!!!

EDIT: Aww Just realized the AVATAR release is a "Pre-release" it says so on the nfo. Would suck to download this only to have problems, GAH! gonna have to wait for a proper version, damn those dont come out for days or even weeks. So tempted to get this version Confused

it's not like it's a beta. it's a review copy, and review copies are the final, that's why they're review. they're just not called final because they're sent out at the same time as the game is gold and sent out for mass printing. so you can expect the full game without any bugs or anything missing.

Yes, there are no problems that mathers, I have been playing for hours.
There is this small voice pitch error that happens rarely, but it can be because I have the game on hdd, but even if it is a game bug it's not a big deal at all since it doesn't happen often.

Get it and burn it on a RW disc if you dont have a hdd, and when the RETAIL come you can burn that one for the game archive.

Kuja, if you want a 2d old school rpg that is not a tactical rpg like ff tactics, this is the game Smile
This game is like any old normal 2d rpg, meaning, you walk around freely in towns and everywhere, like all the mana games, final fantasy etc. And the fighting system has the basic fight/defend/etc options and works almost the same as the early final fantasy games, except that this has a few other options of course Smile
It's a truly awesome game. I too have been waiting for a real fantasy game with cartony graphics like this, I'm not a fan of the tactical rpg's either and there have been quite many of those.

Edit: Didn't stop loading for me and I'm way past 10min.
Playing from hdd though, but that doesn't mather, if the game works it works on both hdd and disc, and if it doesn't work it doesn't work on either Smile
Burn it on a RW disc if you can, that way you wont have to waste more disc's.

I have a question. How does the story play out? Is it like cutscenes or is it oldschool text popping up above characters? Like in the old school RPGs.

Nope no extra modes selected, I just installed it from a -RW disc and that's it.
I have played 13h now and haven't had a single crash, just the voice errors.
Very weird that it crashes for you :/

pallebrun, can you go into the fighting a little bit more? Fighting systems in RPGs for me is the total sink or swim factor.

I'd love to hear more about it.

The fighting system is basicly your normal final fantasy turn-based system but with alittle more deapth.
You have your basic commands like fight/defend/item/run.
You also have "skills" which you learn while playing the game and these skills uses mana points (magic points in final fantasy). Different characters have different skills.

The difference that gives this game abit more deapth is this.
In this game you have the option to use attacks that take more than 1 turn to do, they are more powerful, and this results in that the enemy can "break" your attack if they hit you hard enough. You can do the same with enemies if they are about to use a hard attack, and it would be smart to break it since these moves takes alot more hp from you Smile
If you suceed in breaking the attack it results in 2-3 turns without getting hit, so it can be a real life saver to focus your attacks on the enemy that "loads" a hard attack.
This is the biggest difference from final fantasy.
But other than that it's ALOT like final fantasy. So if you like the system found in ff you will without a doubt find this game great.

I think that's it Smile

This is without a doubt one of the best rpg's I have ever played in my 20 years of gaming.
The graphics are absolutley stunning. I wish more developers saw the beaty in creating 2d rpg's instead all these 3d rpg's. The playable characters are outstanding.
And the humour is problary the best part of the whole game. I have laughed so many times at the brilliant dialog the characters have throughout the game with each other or with other non main-story related folks, it's just awesome. Sometimes a hillarious "cutscene" just pop up when you least expect it.
And these hillarious moments makes the game feel new and refreshing all the time. It's actually so funny that I sometimes forget about the main story and instead travel around looking for a funny side thing to pop up. Very Happy
Voice's are also great and fit's the characters perfectly.
And the music, oh wow, it's also awesome and fits the game perfectly.

I would rate this game a 9.8. The -0.2 is because the synthesize system can be abit frustrating at times, but it's such a minor thing so it's still a 9.8 game in my opinion. Smile
I hope many will do as I and buy this game so we get part 2 in english too.

Arrrrrr.... Sad

You don't have an X-Port or MAX Drive, do you? Otherwise you could try sending me a savegame so I could check if it's gonna work or not.

I know I'm asking a lot but I would really like to play this gem for more than ten minutes Smile So in case you could help me out here, please drop me a PM.

It says so in the nfo that the game might have problems with pro logic Smile
So yes, use stereo all the time and all will be good. Smile

Wow, thanks a lot! I didn't bother reading the nfo, that's good to know then. Cheers for your help, though! Smile
