Torn Banner Studios are excited to announce Chivalry: Medieval Warfare 2, the sequel to 2012’s critically acclaimed hit title. Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer first person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles.

The game was announced June 10 at the E3 2019 presentation of the PC Gaming Show.

Chivalry 2 is developed by Torn Banner Studios, published by Tripwire Interactive and will be available for PC on the Epic Games Store at its launch in 2020. It will release on other PC platforms 12 months later.

“With Chivalry 2 we want to bring to life the grit and powerful emotions of a cinematic medieval battlefield,” says Torn Banner Studios’ president Steve Piggott. “Learn to master the blade as you lay siege to castles, set fire to villages and slaughter filthy peasants.”

Chivalry 2 is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and sees a massive visual upgrade, 64 player maps, larger medieval battlefields than ever before, a revamped and more accessible and fluid combat system, along with new gameplay additions such as mounted combat.

What's it have going for it that Mordhau doesn't already have? "A revamped and more accessible fluid combat system" isn't going to be enough to peak anybody's interest - and definitely doesn't sound like a good thing.

This.

I'd only be interested if it was a single player game with an engaging story.

Bad luck on their part that Mordhau came out first.

Yeah, Mordhau really improved on every aspect they had in Chivalry 1. Only thing I can think of are the maps, that are quite static in Mordhau. A dynamic campaign could be nice.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

I really should be excited about this, but it honestly looks as janky if not jankier than the first, somehow. Then there's the fact that they kind of abandoned the first one when it still had potential for more. Things that were long overdue to be fixed were never fixed, there wasn't really any new content coming ever and what they were releasing instead were paid cosmetics. Mordhau exists now and it feels better to play with the devs being much more active from the looks of it, while somehow having more customization than Chivalry had at its end and you don't have to pay for any of it. I do feel the same when it comes to maps tho, Chiv had more, better balanced and they were all pretty fun, but I'm hoping that's a thing that improves with time in Mordhau.

Then there's also the big "fuck you!" with the store exclusivity, which is super weird because it's a bigger "fuck you!" to them than it is to consumers. They are really shooting themselves in the foot. I don't imagine a studio like them can afford a small launch.

I never understood this way of thinking. Don't take a political stance when you're trying to sell a product unless you absolutely have to. Why risk alienating potential customers? In the words of Michael Jordan: 'Republicans buy sneakers, too.' Laughing

I guess religious nutjobs and bigots in general just can't help them self, this Tripwire guy didn't use his Twatter acc for 3 years but he absolutely had to tell the world about how much he cares about this stupid medieval law now.

On the one hand he should be able to post nonsense like this with barely any backlash, financial or otherwise. On the other, if things are the way they are, why even risk your business like this over sharing your beliefs/political stance?
Eh.

I also agree that (1) business should remain apolitical (not as a rule, but rather as the optimal choice for any rational business owner), and (2) in case someone does disclose their political opinion on some sensitive matter for whatever strange reason, it shouldn't really cause the backlash we see these days.

It's also one of the reasons I avoid public social media such as Twitter as much as possible - disclosing personal opinions there about certain things could in fact be harmful to one's career... even if not now (I don't have views that are too extreme, I hope), who knows what'll the norm be in 15 years.

True but for many Americans there only ever seem to be 2 sides to everything in reality it's never that simple.

I remember that back when RS2: Vietnam came out the game was initially devoid of any swearing because it offended the guy's christian "values". Then people complained and eventually the devs added/restored the censored lines. Decapitating folks and setting them on fire was fine, but uttering the word 'fuck'? Hell no, that's where jeebus draws the line!

So yeah, that's not really surprising. He should have kept his own daft beliefs to himself, but then again religious fanatics are incapable of doing that.

He even wrote a christian Death Metal song for Killing Floor 2 (most of the soundtrack was christian metal) Laughing

He can spew whatever bullshit he wants, that's pretty much what the social media turned out to be for. What bothers me the most in this instance is the hypocrisy of the "good boy" Jason Schreier and the amount of blind followers.

That fucking grifter... supposedly, "jase" knew all along that some terrible abuse was happening at blizzard but didn't break the story years ago because reasons.
And the most hilarious part is seeing so much people eating that bullshit, even more when it's his fellow retards at REEEEEEEEEESETERA. Well, that and seeing those dumbfucks circling their wagons around someone who works for an evul capitalist corporation like bloomberg Laughing

The comments are hilarious. The guy that talks about the consequences of one's speech then goes to mute the whole thing because he couldn't take the consequences of his speech is surreal. Laughing

See? We live in a society where expressing a political opinion can essentially end one's career. Even if I (strongly) disagree with this particular political opinion, I don't like this form of censorship by the masses.

It's essentially the equivalent of a medieval mob lynching a person who disgraced the virtues of the masses. Very scary stuff.

Not at all it was very very shitty opinion again free speech gives you the right to say stupid shit but not the right to avoid consequences. There is no such thing as censorship by the masses btw that's just typical right wing nonsense "the masses" or the mob are not a controlling body like a government or organized religion.

Besides this is pretty much just capitalism at work i don't need to support company's ran by horrible people that's my choice and i'm free to say so.
If these company's decide to get rid of these people like in this case it's definitely not because they somehow care about what they said or did but simply because they would make less money if they didn't so everything works as expected.

The human condition since the dawn of man. It would have been wiser to just keep his political views out of work. Unless he intended to step down and harm the company's PR. You never know what really goes on in these circles.

I never mentioned anything about free speech - as you said, nobody is taking away that guy's right to free speech. What I said is that the people are overreacting.

I mean, you yourself called it a "very very shitty opinion" as if it was a fact; as if someone had the right to judge which opinion is shitty and which isn't. I am absolutely against the bullshit law Texas is introducing, but I don't think people should be lynched for having opinions we disagree with. I don't think we need to boycott companies with different political opinions. Like, come on, when did we become so polarized as a society?

BTW I'm not an expert on Twitter, but wasn't it posted on his personal Twitter account? If it was on the company's account then of course that's a completely different matter.
