Tetris® Effect for PC / PC VR coming July 23, pre-order now.
(Available now on PS4/PS VR.)
Tetris® Effect is Tetris like you've never seen it, or heard it, or felt it before—an incredibly addictive, unique, and breathtakingly gorgeous reinvention of one of the most popular puzzle games of all time, from the people who brought you the award-winning Rez Infinite and legendary puzzle game Lumines. Fully playable on either a standard display—with unlocked resolution and uncapped framerate (with Vsync disabled)—or optionally in mind-blowing 3D on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
As the ultimate version of Tetris Effect, the PC version is capable of running at resolutions of 4K or more, with an uncapped framerate (if Vsync is disabled), and includes ultra-wide monitor support as well as other expanded game and graphical options for both 2D and VR play (including adjustable particle volume and size, texture filtering, and more) not found in the PlayStation 4 console release.
Music, backgrounds, sounds, special effects—everything, down to the Tetriminos themselves, pulse, dance, shimmer, and explode in perfect sync with how you're playing, making any of the game's 30+ stages and 10+ modes something you'll want to experience over and over again.
A challenge for the mind and a feast for all the senses, Tetris Effect is the perfect excuse to play Tetris again... and again...and again, and again, and again and again and again and again and again and again and…
- VR Optional: Playable on your PC desktop, or in full VR with your Oculus Rift or HTC VIVE headset and accompanying controllers (standard gamepads, VIVE Controllers, and Oculus Remote and Touch controllers are all supported).
- All-new “Zone” Mechanic: Players can stop time (and Tetriminos falling) by entering “the Zone” and either get out of a sticky situation that could otherwise lead to “Game Over,” or rack up extra Line Clears for bonus scoring rewards.
- Over 30 Different Stages: Each with its own music, sound effects, graphical style and background that all evolve and change as you play through them.
- Enhanced PC Visuals & More: Unlocked resolution and an uncapped framerate if Vsync is disabled, increased texture and particle effect options, support for super high-resolution and ultrawide monitors, and more
Am I the only one missing the point of why this is award winning?
A background that 30 seconds in I wouldn't notice because I'm busy focusing on the tetris grid.
Make me think "Tetsis, with reshade and ENB"

The game runs perfect on my machine (6700K without OC, 32GB DDR4 with XMP'd 3000mhz, GTX 970 G1 GAMING, etc) with everything set to "EPIC" or whatever
However, "The birds/woods" stage gave me some bit brutal framedrops on it's 2nd stage where it speeds up or near the end and i think that, for now, is the only stage that does it..
The CPU and/or GPU were making loads of noise, even the fan crrrrrr'kin lightly from the CPU.. It's a very old CPU cooler, a Thermaltake FrioOCK
Might be an ok time to change both

Ive been looking for a sensible version of tetris for a while, could this be it? Every other version of tetris out there I've tried changes the rules or adds other retarded game modes. I just want level by level speed increase and highscores.
You'll surely get it with this one, with great music to play with in the BG...The only addition is the "T Spin", that's all..

Just played this in VR for 2h. If you want to give it a go just make a shortcut of the exe and add -vr to the target line.
Its, how to describe? immersive... somehow. If you have a VR device and like Tetris, definitely try this out. They did a good job on the VR part.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Fucking finally.. So TEC would be the base TE with extra levels etc and the VR experience, right?..
