they really should just turn far cry into an rpg along the lines of stalker

They could create a frozen post-nuclear wasteland with tons of abandoned rusty sites to explore and fight scavengers in. Rip some things from the Metro and Stalker games and have two single-player modes, Normal and Hardcore. With air filters to survive in contaminated areas, Geiger counters, upgrading your hazard/combat suit parts, freezing when in high altitude, forcing you to go from shelter to shelter when exploring hilltops, trapped radiation dust/dirt creating deathtraps in lower altitudes, like canyons. Lunatics, cannibals and other crazy fucks, malnourished but addicted to scavenged drugs they have to take to be able to keep scavenging for food... just eye-twitching MDMA fiends wanting to cook you!
But they will probably just create an ominous looking but toothless wasteland, like Skyrim's icy mountains

I imagine Ubi's executives sitting on the company couches, sipping diet Mountain Dew and eating baguettes au Raclette whilst Fallout's reception was backfiring everywhere and thinking "hey guys, next week there's this Award thingy, why don't we present a post-apocalyptic game too?" "Whoa...but how? We don't have anything to show" "Pfft, we already have the maps, scripts and all the assets. Call Jean Pierre, let's put together a nice CG teaser!" ...and thus, Far Cry 2019 was born.
