A Hat in Time is a 3D collect-a-thon platformer in the spirit of the classic Nintendo 64 titles you know and love! Think Banjo-Kazooie, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario 64 all in one!
The game mashes the best from old-school 3D platformers and gives it a modern twist!
Not only can you navigate terrain using traditional gameplay mechanics such as running and jumping (and wall jumping - everybody loves wall jumping!), but you are also provided with your trusty umbrella, which can be upgraded to provide a wide range of abilities!
Hat Kid can wall jump, slide and double jump. As her story progresses, she unlocks additional moves like the hookshot, ground pound and pogo upgrades!
In addition, and unlike previous platformers, combat is rewarding: obtain unlockables, such as new abilities, by defeating strong enemies! Here you can have your cake AND eat it!

the level design from the 4th gif was taken straight out of mario galaxy 2, which is a good thing in my books.
there are shameless ripoffs and then there are developers who are capable of noticing the great aspects of other games and implementing them into their own, with this game in particular falling into the latter category.

Looks like the game is getting close to release but it seems some people found that Jon Tron was involved in some of the voice acting in the game from some years ago and that's getting some attention, hopefully it doesn't affect the game but you never really know.
(This close to release they would have to pull the VO's entirely to avoid a longer delay from finding someone to re-record said lines plus the cost involved in doing this.)
Something like that from my understanding of it, guy made some contribution to the Yoko-Laylee game and then some video was dragged up which got him labeled as a racist or something so the developers replaced the files.
Now there's a similar outcry for this game, I don't really care about it myself either but I'm hoping it doesn't affect the games imminent release or the reviews of the game as a result.
Said contribution is apparently for some penguins somewhere in the game but it's full voice acting instead of noises so replacing it would be more of a effort from the devs and then they face the issue of getting reviews tanked both if they replace the voice acting or if they keep it in.
Not the best situation to be in for the developers especially as the game is like one or two days from release, this close though they might just chose to release the game and go with it.
Guess that comes down to how much noise is being made around this, haven't checked what's going on at the Steam forums for the game come to think of it.
And I suppose even if they remove the lines in question how many of these posters would then actually support and buy the game, that doesn't really seem to happen but some developers tend to be cautious and act even if there's a very small minority complaining about something in the game.
But hopefully things work out for the developers, unfortunate this would be dug up right before release though.

This small indie studio couldn't have possibly known that back then and just choose to not get further involved over some very minor shit after what happened to those other devs, no one can blame them for that they have mouths to feed after all. Idiotic murican bullshit politics at it's finest, every side just thinks about their bullshit agenda and no one cares about the ppl actually suffering the consequences, best to just stay as far away from this as possible and support the devs.
Edit. thread closed over at Neofag turns out out some ex Breitbart Dude just wanted to stir up some shit to get the other side riled up (and almost succeeded), of course throwing the Devs of the game willingly under the Bus, this is exactly the kind of shit i was talking about, both "sides" are full of shit as always.
