Welcome to the Call to Arms crowd funding page, a real-time strategy game developed by Digitalmindsoft and the true successor of the Men of War series.

Like you, we fought countless battles across Europe, but time stops for no man and change is coming. The era of modern warfare has begun!

Call to Arms offers an innovative new look into modern era combat. Initially offering two playable factions, 20 realistically modeled vehicles and heavy weaponry, as well as over 60 firearms and customization, our new game offers the very best in tactical gameplay.

Similar to Men of War: Assault Squad, Call to Arms also includes our innovative "direct control" feature, a 3rd person action mode used to operate your unit's aim and movement. Whether advancing with a Humvee, infiltrating with a Scout Sniper or crashing through buildings with a M1A2 Abrams, everything can be controlled by you!

Aside from the modern theme, what will change compared to the classic Men of War? We believe it's time to improve the series and the engine it’s running on. This is where we require your help! We have raised enough funds to begin the project, but with your assistance, we aim to create the best strategy experience yet. Every cent offered will go back into development to create higher resolution graphics, engine optimizations and greater content! So what are you waiting for? Check out the reward list and let’s work together to create the greatest gaming you’ve seen!

Quote:
Why are you not on Kickstarter?
We plan to migrate to Kickstarter at some stage of development, but for now our own website offers us the greatest flexibility. Current users of Digitalmindsoft don’t even need to register!

Will stretch goals delay the development?
Absolutely not, we’ll keep our planned release date and if necessary release stretch goals later. If you financially contributed to the project, you’ll receive all stretch goal content for free.

Does that mean that you will stop supporting Men of War?
Of course not, we still adore the battlefields of WWII, so we will continue to support Assault Squad with content and balance patches. Stay tuned for further announcements!

Do you have a publisher for Call to Arms?
Digitalmindsoft have teamed up with Lace Mamba Global as their worldwide publisher of Call to Arms. Lace Mamba successfully launched boxed versions of Men of War: Assault Squad, Vietnam and Condemned Heroes into English speaking countries worldwide and so we saw them as the perfect partner for our new game.

Men of War is the best RTS I've ever played, backed

sorry..but.. why kickstarter? Didn't assault squad and their DLC do okay?
You've got a publisher, if we're paying for everything, what are they doing?

I see this as a great new trend, kickstart your development for free, then up the price to $60 because making video games is so expensive.

idiots.

Oh, fuck yes! Gimme! Very Happy

EDIT : @Crossmr : i guess there's a lot less shit to fuck with because you don't have to mess with the publisher too much right? No begging for cash etc.

So if we don't fund them we get a crappy unoptimized engine?
great sell.

basically I see this as, give us more money or you're getting shovelware.

Maybe they want to get away from 1C which is why they aren't using the MoW name. They are responsible for the shit like Vietnam, they just make their own shovelware versions of the games. Same with the new King's Bounty

Backed, loved the ol' men of war games, shame that I missed the early backer offer though. Anyone that already has MoW: Assault Squad and can let me have their key? Smile

Don't have the financial strength to support them at the moment, but I hope they can receive my virtual support anyway, MoW was awesome. Razz

That's what i'm guessing. Having money upfront certainly makes things easier and you can do what you want with the game. I guess it's the publisher who would rather derp a game, make it "more accessible" (dumb) and make more money in the process.

Wasn't Assault Squad MP only? It was the only one I didn't play

There was SP as well - kinda like skirmish mode where you capture points and move onward to the last one thus unlocking new equipment. I come back often to AS because of that.

I'd love to play a "proper" MoW since i absolutely love the idea of it.. I bought the original game but wow, it's just too damn difficult even on easy.

Well, i think so too. Try using more and more direct control. I know it's not always possible but it makes the game a bit easier.

@crossmr - it is helluva repetitive (same shit all the time) but still fun if you play every few days or like once a week.

MoW had some great stuff in it - but I personally think that CoH/CMBB brought more fun. I'd love to see some mix between all three Smile (speaking of Multiplayer now. Singleplayer was best in MoW)

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

The "...of war" (and soldiers HOWWII before them) brought direct control and i was more than thrilled when in the first mission i blow up a whole house with a HE round from T-34 Very Happy I play those games mostly for their arcadey part (controlling vehicles yourself) rather than for the strategy part. Therefore i liked "lone wolf" missions or those with less personnel and more equipment/vehicles. So the new games are worse at that part because of controlling whole squads. Still, great games Smile
COH is a different beast and an excellent game.

When i play head to head with a friend we always bought rocket equipped vehicles and fired away Very Happy

The thing that really appealed to me in these games was to take full control of a soldier or vehicle, salvage whatever was on the battlefield etc. They took a RTS and turned it tactical with full control. They only RTS series I have ever really liked. Very Happy

Now this is interesting. Assault squad was the "best" men of war as in the most polished one that had the best AI and controls so these guys are definitely the right guys to make this game.

I hope they go back to the smaller scale battles with more emphasis on making do with what little weaponry you have. Faces of War was great for this, giving you a handful of soldiers to fight a company's worth of men and vehicles.

The meat grinder that is the Men of War campaign is just boring.

Finally got Soldiers to work.

I've played all MOW games through on their hardest settings so this is a little odd... when I started S:HOWW2, what's with shooting other tanks? On the first mission I shot one of them at least 15 times (as they did the same to me) and neither of us became disabled or blew up. It's pretty straight forward in MOW, I don't get why it's so different in this? Do you need to score rear shots? I tried tracks, the turret, side shots, pretty much everything apart from behind.

1) Distance matters.
2) Gun caliber matters.
3) Always shoot the rear or sides.
4) To outmanouver - shoot the tracks with HE and circle around.
5) Also - if yu have to shoot in the front, shoot the front of the turret. Sometimes you hit and it breaks down thus ending the tank's life
Pretty straightforward.

There's no penetaration chance (Razz) indicator like in MoW but still i guess you know all the tanks in the game by now.
