Warners previously got into the mash-up fighting game genre with “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe,” but now they’re going to expand their franchise IP roster with the new free-to-play platform fighter “MultiVersus” which is essentially “Super Smash Bros.” for the WarnerMedia crowd.
The family-friendly fighting game sees characters like Batman, Arya Stark, Bugs Bunny, and Scooby Doo’s Shaggy battling each other, and the game has enlisted some good talent for it including Maisie Williams, Matthew Lillard, Kevin Conroy and Tara Strong. The game arrives on all platforms in 2022.
Lol. Guys remember when Sony tried to do smash clone?
No matter how many fan characters you'll get, if theres no good gameplay it'll tank.
And this looks expensive franchise wise.
Who else got into the beta testing? I'm thinking everyone lol. Cause this doesn't look interesting. Gotta build up hype somehow.
Well bumping this. They did a good job. The Nicktoons one was a complete and utter failure and they wasted too much time to do get it up to par for what they were charging for it.
This, the controls are tight, the characters are, from what I've played so far, are a lot of fun, the voice acting is really good.
There's a couple things I don't like but it's more for the whales of gaming but it's not pay to win, just cosmetics and shit.
Free to play, free characters are on a rotation. You get plenty of coins to unlock characters (permently) as you play. I wish they'd gone with the Smash Bros route where you pay for the game and get everyone but, it's WB, they're on a mission to be scummier than EA and UBI combined.
They're reaching out to ALL the IPs they own, cartoon network HBO, everything. Arya Stark is in it lol.
That being said. I paid the entry level which gives you unlock credits and I only unlocked who I'm actually going to play as. Who the fuck cares about Lebron. I'll never play that retard.
Multiplatform works really damn smooth. Steam/Epic/Consoles all tie in pretty seamlessly.
Some things need balancing which I'm sure will happen, but as it stands right now, as someone who loves Smash Bros, this was done pretty properly gameplay wise and I'm going to keep playing it.
So far I've played Batman, Harley Quinn, The Iron Giant, Taz, Superman and Wonder Woman. I can't play Taz for shit but I got fucking stomped by someone who was good with him lol. Batman and Harley are so god damn fun.
As mentioned above about Sony etc trying this. There's over 100K people playing just on steam today. That's not including Epic and consoles that you can play with. So potentially a few hundred thousand players in the pool. This isn't going to die any time soon so long as WB keeps updating it.
