I have had WoW for almost a month now and I can't get enough of it. I think the game is fantastic! A friend of mine tried WoW and he didnt like it all that much and now he has played Everquest2, he thinks its awesome and undoubtedly so much better! I hear so many mixed opinions about who likes which but they never really say why and having looked on NForce already but not really finding much about EQ2, I created this thread so that all those who like WoW and all those who prefer EQ2 can have their say on the positives and negatives of the two games. Although I have never played EQ2, I am fairly sure it has superior visuals but is that all when compared to WoW?

Can we have an NForce Poll on this one?

LOL!!!!!!
Very Happy

I played the beta for World of Warcraft. It was a good game, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't.

But it's not a patch on Everquest two.
If you like your games more simpler then go for WOW. But if you prefer a more deep and involving game then EverQuest two is unbeatable.

But I will say this. Blizzard probably has a much better customer service than Sony Online Entertainment will ever have. They mistakenly transfered my character to the test server and when I asked them to return it to the server I originally had it on I was told it wasn't possible. Now I can't get back into the game, it seems too much bother to restart a new one. I put months into it too.

Ouch Jenny ! What a bunch of E V I L japanese

I bought WoW (1 free month) + a 3 months abonnement. I played 2 months, and now, I'm fed up with it. Maybe it's the game, maybe it's just me, but I feel so bored when I play to WoW :s

i got bored with it ever since they implemented the honor system.
it turned into one chaotic mess, and even though they claimed it would only be the first couple of days, it's still going on.
i hate the honor system, and i'm a L60 UD Rogue, that must mean something. Razz
it changed from a great mmorpg into just another kill-everything-in-sight game. can't focus on anything but pvp anymore as everyone is obsessed with the honor system.

EQ2 is more deeply RPG game than WoW, and with that the most young kids go to WoW (one reason i dont play it) and more mature go to EQ2. I played EQ2 for 4months and quit couse like EQ1 it took to much time for me.
So in easy, WoW is kiddy game and EQ2 is for real players Very Happy

I've heard one point of view, that EQ/EQ2 is the hardcore gamer's choice, because you have to be dedicated, and there is no cap (that was essentially his two arguments), and that WoW was just a kiddies people pleaser.

I'd have to say I agree, WoW is a game designed to suck up the largest market share and consequentley sucks for any real gamer because of the large amount of tweaking for 12 year olds. Level 60 cap is mediocre at best, it has no endgame content and is WAAAYY too quick to swing the Nerf stick.

I think the characters itself are more unique in EQ2. In WOW every character within a class looks very similar. Why didnt Blizzard implement
better faceforming to create a more unique char ?

All in all i like wow and have no time for a second MMORPG. Sad

EVE!! OMFG!! LOL!!
Best way to save money connect your pc to your vcr. Do one mission and record it. Set the vcr to loop. Same thing as playing it proper.

It's not really about missions. Ever tried fleet battles? Bounty hunting real players?

Now that is EVE, and pretty amazing.

I played SWG's too. Good game but it was so very flawed. Having one Imperial with two at-st's that could take out an entire clan was stupid.

I gave up.

Well graphically EQ2 is beautiful, and I did enjoy it up to a point. But I just couldn't get into it. There was no real direction, I couldn't find a main plotline to follow after I left the starting isle so in the end I just couldn't be bothered.

WoW didn't even last that long really, played it for about 2 weeks then got bored. All the characters look almost identical, and after realising that there are no real differencs between races I lost interest.

Considering guild wars now.

AM, have you considered Ryzom. A great game which I beta tested on. I was seriously into it before work commitments meant I had to give it up.

Worth a look seeing as theres a 14 day free trial.

i have played WoW at a friends house and it looked really like a kiddie rpg and most players were acting like that too. Guild Wars on the other hand doesn't have much atmosphere either, maybe i'm spoiled from UO, but no online rpg has ever build up such a rich world and atmosphere as UO. I had to quit playing it years ago to succesfully complete my master Wink EQ2 looks nice, but i'm not willing to pay for online play (thats why i gave guild wars a try), the only game i might consider paying a fee for online gaming would be star wars galaxies

It's strange how people can have such wildly different views on a game, you would think a good game is a good game. Thats not to say I think WoW is crap, I just didn't find it that entertaining.

In some ways i'm glad I didn't get addicted to it or anything, because I have other things I need to devote time to, but in other ways it's nice to get such good entertainment and only pay a small monthly fee for it. It's less expensive then getting addicted to alot of other things anyway!

I didn't really think much of matrix online, the quests are the most boring ever!

I have to agree. Never has there been a mmorpg like UO. Now that Origin have totally wrecked it, there will be no going back for me. Some of my finest gaming moments have been because of that game.

If you wish to play a little less cookie cutter MMORPG's I'd personally suggest "The Saga of Ryzom", "Horizons" (which is dieing, though), "Ultima Online" (if you can stand the shit graphics and it being a pale shadow compared to what it once was), "Star Wars Galaxies", "EVE Online", "Asherons Call 1 or 2, though one is better but ofcourse uglier" and, perhaps Lineage 1 and or 2 for the truely hardcore.

EQ2 is bigger, more difficult and with deeper ropleplaying, Blizzard just can't keep up with the promised scheduled updates while EQ2 is updated often and already got a miniexpansion. GFX-wise EQ2 can be pretty impressive but it also has higher requirements.
