I have had WoW for almost a month now and I can't get enough of it. I think the game is fantastic! A friend of mine tried WoW and he didnt like it all that much and now he has played Everquest2, he thinks its awesome and undoubtedly so much better! I hear so many mixed opinions about who likes which but they never really say why and having looked on NForce already but not really finding much about EQ2, I created this thread so that all those who like WoW and all those who prefer EQ2 can have their say on the positives and negatives of the two games. Although I have never played EQ2, I am fairly sure it has superior visuals but is that all when compared to WoW?
Can we have an NForce Poll on this one?

I've heard one point of view, that EQ/EQ2 is the hardcore gamer's choice, because you have to be dedicated, and there is no cap (that was essentially his two arguments), and that WoW was just a kiddies people pleaser.
I'd have to say I agree, WoW is a game designed to suck up the largest market share and consequentley sucks for any real gamer because of the large amount of tweaking for 12 year olds. Level 60 cap is mediocre at best, it has no endgame content and is WAAAYY too quick to swing the Nerf stick.

EVE!! OMFG!! LOL!!
Best way to save money connect your pc to your vcr. Do one mission and record it. Set the vcr to loop. Same thing as playing it proper.

It's not really about missions. Ever tried fleet battles? Bounty hunting real players?
Now that is EVE, and pretty amazing.

I played SWG's too. Good game but it was so very flawed. Having one Imperial with two at-st's that could take out an entire clan was stupid.
I gave up.

Well graphically EQ2 is beautiful, and I did enjoy it up to a point. But I just couldn't get into it. There was no real direction, I couldn't find a main plotline to follow after I left the starting isle so in the end I just couldn't be bothered.
WoW didn't even last that long really, played it for about 2 weeks then got bored. All the characters look almost identical, and after realising that there are no real differencs between races I lost interest.
Considering guild wars now.

AM, have you considered Ryzom. A great game which I beta tested on. I was seriously into it before work commitments meant I had to give it up.
Worth a look seeing as theres a 14 day free trial.

It's strange how people can have such wildly different views on a game, you would think a good game is a good game. Thats not to say I think WoW is crap, I just didn't find it that entertaining.
In some ways i'm glad I didn't get addicted to it or anything, because I have other things I need to devote time to, but in other ways it's nice to get such good entertainment and only pay a small monthly fee for it. It's less expensive then getting addicted to alot of other things anyway!

If you wish to play a little less cookie cutter MMORPG's I'd personally suggest "The Saga of Ryzom", "Horizons" (which is dieing, though), "Ultima Online" (if you can stand the shit graphics and it being a pale shadow compared to what it once was), "Star Wars Galaxies", "EVE Online", "Asherons Call 1 or 2, though one is better but ofcourse uglier" and, perhaps Lineage 1 and or 2 for the truely hardcore.

EQ2 is bigger, more difficult and with deeper ropleplaying, Blizzard just can't keep up with the promised scheduled updates while EQ2 is updated often and already got a miniexpansion. GFX-wise EQ2 can be pretty impressive but it also has higher requirements.
