It's not exactly surprising that Red Dead 2 will have the same GTA:O transactions for it's own Multiplayer. The title you posted is nowhere in the article though, bit misleading.

Well as long as it still has a great single player story and the transaction are mp only I don't mind. But.. yeah... wishful thinking...

You can't blame them, they are raking in the money in GTA 5 Online. It is the customers' fault for pushing them in that direction. Well, I guess you can't put them at "fault" if they enjoy this kind of stuff but for more conventional players, this is gonna suck.
You got Skyrim being super successful and later they try to monetise the mods, you got GTA 5 being super successful and then being unexpectedly ultra-profitable on the multiplayer side, so they change their strategy. Will they even release a standalone new story like the Episodes from LC for GTA 4?

Haha yeah, one can only laugh at such brazen absurdity. Alas, after some initial reluctance it will be absorbed by casual folks and will become the new normal in no time, ready to pave the way for the next strategical move alongside seasonal seamless early access lootcrate-y services 3.0 and whatever boils inside the CEO-friendly cauldron.
Meanwhile, $70 is about the same amount of money that I spent last Summer on a Gabesale. I bought 46 games. Granted, some of them were golden oldies and I had to visit the Patagonian steppe, but still!

Sigh. How I long for the days of $50 titles where you got the full product right out of the gate, with the possibility of a meaty expansion a year or two down the line for $25-30. It honestly doesn't feel that long ago. Fuck I'm old.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
